Cricket Albury Wodonga 2010/2011

Have been talking to a few around the region about possible people changing clubs. Young braden hensel was brought up about going to uni in melb and is thinking about playing down there. also there is word that steve mcklennan is wanting to play with wane hawking again but he doesnt want ot play at patties, so only speculation, but maybe go back to ss and a. and maybe take pattie plummer and restall with them? that last bit is only speculation though. lastly i hear that marmo wont be at albury next year, word is he has had enough and wants to go back to north, probobly only because he doesnt want to play district when albury get relegated. if albury get relegated, i would highly doubt that he would stay there.

OMFG 220 in a 20/20. Tallangatta smashed, no anhialated, Albury titans. marmo has been bowling all year, suddenly he doesnt bowl against steve wood? scared?

Short and Fast, do you just think of a name and make anything you can about them up? In Josh's Defence, on Sunday, he was keeping, so no, he didnt bowl. As for some of the crap that you keep writing on here. Are you actually in the know about anything you post? Like Restall, Mclennan, Hawking? Do you actually know anything or are you just spreading rumours for the fun of it. I actually would like to also set the record straight in regards to me leaving lavi. Not that it was a big deal for a player to leave one club for another, however Short and Fast you certinaly made it into a huge issue. So to set the record straight, I, Sam O'Connor, left lavington after having no fallouts with either tonk or trent, in search for a good hard crack at 1st grade. I realsise that i wouldnt have, nor shouldve, kicked trent or maggsy out of an opening spot, therefore made the decision to make a name for myself somewhere else. Short and Fast is that a crime? Mate, please start thinking before you post anything else on here in the future.

not making up rumours, just telling people what i have heard, is that a crime? does the expression dont shoot the messenger come in here or is it a case of whoever puts theeir head out to inform people of news gets persecuted.
If its wet all week, taht will make us one step closer to a wasted year, in terms of the bottom feeding albury and other bottom dwellers, not getting relegated. any thoughts? this forum has become dead lately, lets lift up the run rate and have some discussion ey?

Rumour has it there isn't really much fact behind a hole lot of rumours around here. Only thing I can obtain from s&f is that someone is keen to start a new club called SS&A titans.

OC mate i'm sure Albury appreciate you having a go.. It's blokes like you with a bit of heart that is needed at at the "bottom feeder"

not trying to start any new clubs, although ss and a were much more compeditive, once again, just reporting on what i have heard. isnt that what this site is all about? After reading through the forum, we have spoken heaps about the big clubs like lavi and that, just wondering aboutt the teams that are arent going as well, like dederang east albury and yes even albury lol. Who are the players going well and who are the ones to watch

I think its funny how you seem to be critising a club for giving someone a good opportunity. As I said earlier, I didnt deserve to kick Trent or Maggs
out of an opening spot, and I knew it, so I left. I dont think there would be too many people who would begrudge me for seeing how well I could go in A grade. At least I am being honest and throwing my name out there Left Armer, keep hiding behind the computer mate.

Have you actually had a look at the stats last year left armer??? cos i might be about to make you look like a douchebag??

-In the B grade last year Sam batted in 9 innings

-He was dismissed 3 times with an average of 69.00 (only dismissed 3 times for the year ...maybe he was batting a bit low)

-In the A grade he averaged 18.00 runs in 3 games making 45 in his first a grade game for the year 2 in the first final and 7 against north albury in a final which would have nearly been top score in that game.

-In B grade he took 24 wickets in 110 overs at a strike rate of 27.5 and economy of 3.00 and ave of 13.6 (pretty bloody good for a spinner.)

- The 2009-10 season same story batted 13 times only dismissed 7 times including a streak of 6 not outs without being moved up the batting order from 7 ave 35 for the season including a 86no that i witnessed first hand against north albury batted for about 65 70 overs as the whole team went out around him.

-Took 15 wickets with a ave of 22 an economy of 3.3 from about 100 overs.

- Has bowled 1 over 0-2 in 2 day A grade cricket for lavi??? what would you do........

so im not shooting the messenger left armer because your not a messenger because you have no message all u have is bullshit that you have made up and spruke it off in here like its fact do yourself and your credibility a favour and have a read of some stats once in a while.......im also intriuged as to what made you form the opinion that sam wasnt perfoming in b grade?? did someone tell u that once or did u maybe play against him one day sometime... ?? Sam is an honorable and straight up person and a pretty handy cricketer he doesnt deserve to be slagged off on here by some nobody.
Just so you know Sam anyone who has played a bit of cricket against you knows the truth dont let this smoker get to you.
And just before you get on here saying im one of his mates sticking up for him i play for North Albury and i dont even know him that well.

Look I am the first one to apolgise if offence has been taken, wasn't my intent. As far as stats go, they can be made to look as good or as bad as the person wants to interprets them. People who bowl 3rd, 4th and 5th change do tend to take wickets. Guys that bat down the order do tend to get a few not outs and pick up a score or two because they are facing the old ball, the change bowlers and are able to throw the bat around to chase quick runs.

So GG, if you had half a cricketing brain you would look at more than the simple figures, because they can mean nothing at times.

It will always amaze me how people turn nothing into personal attacks, no wonder this site has turned to crap. And to you Sam, I hope you go out this week and crack a ton.

Ok the left armer enlighten me with your cricketing brain to answer this smart arse how did you form your opinions about Sam if not from stats did you go and watch him play every week?? or as i suspect are you a bitter lavi 2nds player who played with Sam??

And if they were "simple stats" i would have said he has made 250 runs each season for the last 2 years and taken 25 wickets a season but i didnt did i ?? i used my "cricketing brain" to break them down and analyse them so we could see the bigger picture which in a nutshell was he was making good runs, not going out real often and never got pushed up the order,
and as a legspinner was taking 25 wickets a year with an economy of 3 or less and an ave in the 20's but never got a bowl in the 1's when he was up there?

You also mention that bowling 3rd 4th change always picks up wickets he is a spinner what do you want him to do open with leggies??

As for his batting he was batting between 7 and 9 and ave 69 mabe he should have been pushed up the order??

And turning "nothing" into personal attacks? Obviously if Sam felt he had to come on and defend himself on here he felt it WAS a personal attack and i tend to agree with him, i wish we knew who you were left armer so we could all sit down and as you put it be the "messenger " and all have a crack at what we thought about your cricketing ability but the way im thinking we probably wouldnt have much to talk about??

And as for your last quote "i hope sam cracks a ton this week" that is the worst part of all you dont even have the balls to stand behind what u said now and your'e sucking up his ass....have some dignity.

I will take that non answer as indication i may have already answered those questions ........As a side note the funniest part is I really meant to have a crack at short and fast in the first post but got your 2 usernames mixed up oh well at least it was entertaining??

Thats what I found the funniest, you kept mentioning the 'messenger' and that comment had nothing to do with me.

In box me your name, I might even be at Bunton Thursday night to say hi in person.....

Very amusing gents and thanks for the entertainment, two Nth boys bashing eachother up on line is gold

Sam OC, I reckon you did the best thing for your cricket so good on you...I seem to recall a young wicket keeper named Gilchrist doing the same thing so he could get a go? I don't know what all the fuss is about? Moving Clubs for opportunities has been happening for a while now... time to move on and good luck OC.

One rain strike down and one to go!!! Dederang, Albury or Wodonga may have avoided the bullett here with rain scheduled again within the next couple weeks...

Question: Why has all our rep cricket finished for the year in mid January? We used to have such a strong focus on the development of our top cricketer's from the elite players in the comp to the those knocking on the door? We used to have Ensign Cup, Country Week, SCG Cup, Konica Cup, even in the good ole' days O'Farrell Cup all running with the 33 best players in the CAW playing high level cricket most weekends... all of a sudden we have Tball begging CAW board to allow us to expose our cricketers to higher levels because administrators have no brains and have removed the rungs in the ladder for our cricketers to progress and develop further...an increase in rep. committments would surely benefit the competition and raise the standards of cricket played on weekends from a club level? The more higher level cricket we play, the better we become as cricketer's...to deliberately sound cliche', 'Cricket will be the winner'.

I Know Erdle said its 1 strike but im of the opinion what was stated in the paper may be incorrect.
It was agreed if 2 Full rounds without results are lost due to rain then relegation would be canned for this season.
I believe that there were at least 3 results in the last round so how can this be deemed as 1 of the strikes???

There was only 1 result from the first round after Xmas, the other 4 games were washed out.

Oh sorry LAR thats right its all about Provincial cricket on here isnt it.
I was actually quoting on the competition as a whole in the A grade.
My humblest apologies for posting on the CAW Provincial big cricket forum!!!!

You're right Clinton Gilchrist has turned out to be pretty handy for SS&A/Albury after leaving St.Pats.

Well there was some big scores on the weekend.Image if there hasn't been any washouts how many runs jackson would have made so far. Albury look in big trouble !!!!!! Yes they may be relegated next season but who knows what will happen with the weather. Also noticed a few big scores lately in the lower grades.A double ton in c grade by a lavi player and then a 180 odd by a yack players. I'm guessing the fielding side was in for a long 40 overs. Mt beauty seem to be cruising along nicely but not sure who will push them. If we can get more then 2 rounds played in a row that will be a bonus. All the best this weekend !!!!

Wats everybodys thoughts on the Urana Road wet wicket?
What do we think is a fair penalty to the club?
I dont know all the facts like most of us wont but ill start the ball rolling with no points for the round and $1000 fine

Oh sorry your royal highness but you were replying about the relegation that was mention by Love The Game that listed three Prov clubs....not District Clubs....try going back and reading where District teams were mentioned in the post.....doesn't exclude them though, they just were not mentioned.

And he reels in another one
