Willy Comp 2011/2012

i think you'll find the clubs who voted for keeping the system are the top clubs, and clubs with small grounds. The whole going out to bowl 1 over after fielding for 79 is a joke, as well as fielding after a result has been defined without an outright result being achieved

As for whoever said clubs can't rope off their ground, with a permit they're allowed to

Just ask McKinnon if they're allowed to rope off their ground. They have applied to the VTCA repeatedly to make their ground smaller and they have been denied every time! Permission is very rarely given. The VTCA normally only make exceptions for player safety reasons (ie so they won't be sued). An example of this is when the VTCA give clearance to rope off goal posts etc.

It can't be too difficult to get a permit to rope off grounds. Altona North have not just taken the boundary in from the goal posts & fence, they have gone about 15 metres in. Looking at the VTCA rulebook it doesn't look too hard to get a permit under rule: E3.

How many comps in Victoria could boast having a former ICC cricketer playing?

'The Executive must approve the sectioning off of playing grounds. Any Club wishing to section off part of the playing ground must apply to the Executive by 1 September each year, providing sound reasons for the requested change. A diagram of the proposed change must accompany the application. If permission has not been granted, a Club must use the full ground.'

The VTCA do not often grant approval. 'Sound reasons' must be given (and accepted).

Centrals have their ground roped off aswell. Plenty of VTCA clubs in the West have roped off grounds. Not wanting to start and argument, just meaning that the VTCA should either scrap that points system, or have grounds within a certain size

Don't runs scored in the WDCA go towards working out percentage regardless of ground size or have I missed something?

Well done boys

Competitions need to learn from the strengths and weaknesses of each other. It's that kind of closed-mindedness that's going to lead to the extinction or irrelativeness of smaller competitions.

suck it up mate.....the thing is the vtca want to take over.......willy comp will be around for a while(we all know that) so go try talk your riff raff on another thread!!!!

Being a player in the WDCA and a former player of the VTCA, MMVCA and EBKCA (to name but a few) I think that I am well placed to discuss any of the above competitions. The 'mindlessness' I refer to are the people who use the term 'riff raff' on a forum without considering any of the valid points. Organisations and people need to examine strengths and weaknesses of themselves and others if they are to grow, improve or survive. I didn't create the world we all live in; it's just the way it is.

Bigfish for someone who is only 20 (according to your profile) you've certainly been around. By my calculations you must have started playing at age 2 in the EBKCA, as the comp has been the North West CA since 1993.

It can be more of an advantage gaining extra bonus points than percentage..... especially 2nd innings'.
e.g if you make 8/100 in 2nd dig, your bonus points for making 100 stand, but for losing 8 wickets you lose nothing as you would compared to if you played percentage, your hundred runs would be cancelled out & some???
P.S hope this makes sense, cos im not sure myself, its friday night hahaha.......:D

The Keilor under 10s team was short one day!?! ;)

I got my wife to make my profile for me (maybe she wishes I was 20)!!! I confess I'm not really a computer person, but I must say I have put big cricket at the top of my Explorer and I'm enjoying hearing views in these forums. :)

I have played in a few more comps than the ones I listed. Two things that impress me about the WDCA are the administrators and the passion
