Driving Through With The Hip

Hi Guys.

I have been inactive over the last few weeks but over winter nets I have seem to find an action that consistently works for me. I am getting a great amount of spin and I am also consistently accurate with my line and length. The only issue, which always has been an issue for me is driving through the right hip, should I worry about this? I will post a link to a video of my action.

If you're getting good outcomes with what you're doing, what else matters?

Bowling is not a beauty contest. Find out what works for you, and stick with it.

Congrats!

Please let me know the secret!

I don't quite understand what you mean - it looks to me like you are getting a great drive through the action, but one thing that strikes me is that you are actually running through the pitch - your right leg is finishing between the wickets and this is something umpires wouldn't be happy about for one. It might mean that you are losing zip through not pivoting fully so that might be something for you to think about. IMO the pivot should naturally bring your right leg around so after the ball is released it plants inline or offside of the front foot.

keep up the good work!

I know this comes from the right place: self-improvement, so it's hard to criticise, yet this is also an absolutely classic mistake I see in players.

As has been said, everything is working brilliantly. Yet, you are looking for something to worry about. This is counter-productive when you are looking to build confidence in your game before a long season.

A more productive way to train would be to ask "what am I strong at that I can develop further?" Or even "what can I add to my game that I don't have now?". Until you are in matches it's hard to know how you are doing, but at least that gives you a productive focus rather than constantly looking to correct flaws.

Start at the end: If the ball is doing what you want it to do, keep bowling the way you are bowling!
