Leg Spinner And Coach

I think the more momentum you carry into the crease will have an effect on the length of your stride. However, I'm not sure you understand the conversation properly, and you would if you actually read his book, I asked him why stride length affects ball speed, not spin. His book isn't purely about spin bowling, which you would know had you read the book.

Stride length doesn't affect ball speed at all.

Ok, why is this?
Well why would it? Think about it. Stride length is something we can easily observe, buy that doesn't make it an interesting or relevant variable. It is an outcome of the bowling action, not an input. It doesn't really affect anything.

Ok, but that's just your opinion.

Ok, but that's just your opinion.

"That's just your opinion" is what people say when they don't know what they're talking about.

Of course its not just my opinion. Its demonstrably true. Its a fact, and every competent cricket coach or scientist would agree with this statement.

If you don't like it, fine, just put down the computer and never trouble yourself with thinking about cricket again.

You do a good job at turning people off cricket and bowling. But I'm just trying to learn more and at the moment it is just your opinion, because I don't see anything backing you up on your statement.

'That's just your opinion' are not the words of someone interested in learning about bowling. It's just trolling.

You should never ever use that phrase again in any context whatsoever. 'that's just your opinion' is the kind of anti intellectual bullshit that led to brexit and is currently destroying the UK.

I've explained my point perfectly adequately. Either respond with an intelligent question, or simply accept that you don't know enough about the subject to question my statement. Either way, 'that's just your opinion' is childish bullshit trolling

I notice your article got completely shredded by the scientists in the comments section, lol. Perhaps you should consider getting an actual scientific qualification before attempting to write these pseudo-scientific articles?

For Leggies and Chinaman it does. Bigger the stride is, the more momentum you get.
No, the more momentum you have, the bigger your stride length will be as a result. Which is the exact opposite. Don't confuse correlation for causation like Max does. It's a very basic error that no qualified coach would make.

It's important to get the details correct, otherwise some poor sod out there is going to be trying to bowl with some bizarre long stride mistakenly thinking it will help his momentum through the crease and hence his arm speed. It won't, it will do the opposite. He'll lose all momentum and stability and bowl slow and short and shit.

You can't get a bigger stride without imparting more momentum at the start, common sense. When the stride is bigger, you'll start maximizing the use of calf muscle, resulting in more momentum.

What is your coaching qualification ? How old are you ? You seem to have issues with everyone who says anything you don't agree with and you sound like an immature brat. Learn to be civilized. What I've said above came from a well known coach named Zubin Bharucha, you can search him up, he worked with Rajasthan Royals till the team was debunked, worked with Delhi Daredevils in the last IPL season, he worked with the likes of Dravid, Watson and Warne. He was the one who discovered Pravin Tambe. He is a pretty big deal, what he taught me has worked for me and I'm seeing the result.

Put your toys back in the pram and grow up. Personal insults like this are completely unacceptable on this forum.

I'm a qualified level 3 coach with over 20 years of coaching experience, specialising in spin bowling, with a PhD in physical science and several published articles on biomechanics amongst other things. There are other coaches on this website with equal if not better qualifications to discuss the technicalities of spin bowling (Liz and Tony), and at least one of them has expressed to me the same opinion of this laughable charlatan "Max Andrews" as I do.

What are YOUR coaching qualifications if you think you know so much better?

SLA, why haven't you told us this information about you already? What's your real name and what are the articles that you have written?

eh? Its widely known. Are you new here? I've been using this forum as a way to try to disseminate information and help aspiring spin bowlers for years now. Why on earth do you think I frequently answer people's questions and correct poor and dangerous advice?

Well, you still haven't answered my question.

No, and I don't intend to. I've already received enough physical threats off psychopathic trolls on this website.
Then it's kinda hard to know if you do actually have a PhD and whatever other qualifications you say you have. You seem like a knowledgeable bloke but you also swear a lot on this form and give enough abuse yourself. I've been on here for a couple of years and I want to learn more about bowling, but I don't like seeing people swear at each other. Aren't we supposed to be talking about cricket?

SLA... I know this may not make sense to you, but in this arena, it's really helpful to allow people to be wrong. It's not for you to hit anything you disagree with out of the park and browbeat the person making it. Just post what (you consider) is right, and then others can judge for themselves, and if they choose to be wrong, so be it. The world will not end. I'd really like to hear comments and suggestions from you as a man with nothing to prove.
