Vtca Season 2017/18 & 2018/19

Perhaps the VTCA executive considers that the majority of clubs are not dissatisfied with its administration and, therefore, can confidently continue with its ''go it alone'' stance.
Which would reflect what happened at the meeting with the VTCA when the CSB clubs jumped. The VTCA blindsided themselves, and it was hilarious. Years of not listening to the clubs, a bit more abuse from the executive towards the clubs - and 2 hours later 25 clubs have left the comp. It was that simple.

Based on your responses of late it shouldn't be too difficult for the subbies to ''cherry pick'' the progressive VTCA clubs.

I wouldn’t think so. The only thing holding it back is the fact that the subbies can’t officially approach the clubs
The clubs need to drive the change (either as an individual club if they wanted to jump to the subbies), or as a collective –as CSB did - if they want to push forward with structural change (either with CV or a variation of that)

The abuse was disgraceful to good people like Brian Quinn who did the Leading Edge every month for no pay and then they did it themselves. He was treated like shit , same as other board members from the South.

I vaguely recall when either Taylors Lakes or StBernards applied to join the subbies CV approval was needed. Maybe I'm mistaken. Can anyone clarify? Round the Grounds may know the answer.

Westy it was Rat'n'bat who was adamant that CV signoff was required. I don't understand why it would be necessary, I am not sure if it was ultimately necessary, nor on what grounds CV could prevent it even if they had the power.

Was my understanding regarding the MOU (or similar) that Subbies operate under- that CV had power of veto over expansion of the comp. (it predates the recent changes)
May be completely wrong - has happened before!!

But quite sure that associations arent actively able to recruit clubs to change comps

Correct they are not eg CSB cannot approach say a Subbies club

Thanks for the clarification. I guess you mean that a CV veto (assuming it has the power to do so) could be challenged on the grounds it constitutes a restriction of trade. I should imagine CV would try to avoid being challenged in case it lost out. Whatever, it is only of academic interest to me.

Is it possible that YCCC could go down ! imagine the present President , all that money .

Looking at the ladder after yesterday's loss and, that the Clubbers play Strathmore in the final home and away, relegation is a real probability. Who would have thought!! Rumour over here the Clubbers are chasing Footscray Edgewater's Dean Russ.
It may obtain a get out of jail card if Strathmore is admitted to the subbies and Seddon finishes bottom of the ladder.
Tough question I guess, but do you think any of the CSB clubs would consider an approach to the subbies given only it can provide them with an across town competition?

The only CSB clubs that could and would consider a move to the subbies would be South Caulfield,Bentleigh,Beamauris and Bonbeach as there have the facilities and coin to do it.
But I think those clubs would rather be big fishes in little ponds then try and match with the Caulfield's , Oakleigh's and Noble Park's

For Cricket Sake Yes but with the Subbies who like to refer the CSB,VTCA,ECA,DDCA and MCA as surburben park cricket get pulled into line as most Sub District club are not that good

It's all to do with money these days irrespective of the competition in which your club plays. If you haven't got the coin to compete with others in your competition, your club is destined to be middle-of-road at best. Clubs are not good at facing up to reality; both Sunshine and RPBroady should have departed the subbies years earlier rather than let their clubs run down to the extent they did. Given the subbies cannot offer a promotion and relegation system it is only a matter of time there will be other casualties. Maybe CV will opt to just sit back and let market forces dictate given the present stance of the VTCA, VSDCA et al to continue going it alone. Personally, I hope that is not its stance but I am not in a position to know.

If Subbies did fall over it would be interestering to see how clubs would be graded
For example Caulfield,Oakleigh,Noble Park and Brighton would have to start in Championship Division with Elsternwick,Ormond and Moorabbin starting in Division 1 but in saying that which current CSB Championship Divisions team would go down to Division 1 maybe Parkdale,Hampton,McKinnon or either Bentleigh or Carnegie .
But interesting times ahead in cricket.

Bentleigh would stay up with the superstar they are about to bring in.

Suspect you are referring to Bobby Quiney, be a shame if he didn't head to Shark Park.

BTW, Noble would not go into CSB, they would go into DDCA given Pat Wright oval is in the City of Greater Dandenong. They wouldn't want be travelling all the way to Port Melbourne or Bonbeach would they.
