It wouldn't be to bad as a variation anyway. A different angle means the batsmen would have to adjust. Even if it dosent work 100% that ball probably wouldn't be a boundary.
Yeah as said before I am shaky and uncomfortable until my first boundary. I tend to count runs until a boundary or the bowler starts eliminating the time between deliveries. I find myself getting out so much playing a silly shot trying to get the first boundary. Top edge of a pull shot every time.
I find myself very lucky. I open with a slogger. I just tend to stay in, give him the strike, and once he gets himself out (around the 15th over and if we're lucky he dosen't) I go for it. I play 30 over cricket U/15's this year.
