Spirit Of The Game???

Seriously...what is going on here? World cricket seems to be going nuts at the moment. What ever happened to the spirit of the game? After all the match-fixing now South Africa's Vernon Phillander has been caught scratching the ball after Faf Du Plessis was caught rubbing the ball on his pants zipper. And in the recent India England Test match at Lords; the groundsmen has been caught dragging his back leg along the middle of the pitch!

Here's the video:

You can see that when assumingly (his boss) points out the long scuff marks that he first looks nervously over to him and then looking quickly down at the pitch.

1) He shouldn't have been anywhere near the middle of the pitch (need alone on a good length).
2) India's innings was about to begin.

Seriously...what is going on in world cricket???

The predictable really. Gambling has taken over as the main driver and is being assisted by self interest and greed. There is a long list of issues for Cricket at this time. The IPL, match fixing, the new look of the ICC, so many things driving players to find that little advantage to help them succeed. It has been going on for a long time, the good old hair cream was always good for a ball shine and fixed pitches has been India's specialty for ever, but i do agree, the game is loosing it's way and it's integrity. In the end it will be bad for the game and even worse for the future expansion and development.

It needs to be stamped out immediately. There seems to be a lot of temptation for players (and now seemingly non-players) to do things in order to alter a result or parts of a game. More and more people seem to be taking this option which is rather worrying. You only have to look at recent indiscretions to see the harm that it is causing the game.
