Murali Kartik Retires

Didn't really get much of a crack while Kumble and Harbhajan were in the side. I guess looking at his stats it was easy to see why Kartik never had a prolonged stint in the Indian teams.

Yeah, it does. India has struggled to find a decent consistent spinner since Kumble retired and Harbhajan's form deserted him, Kartik offered far more skill and consistency than Ashwin and Jadeja will ever have.
 
Kartik's career coincided with the dominance of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh in the India side and as a result, he never got a sustained run in Tests. He played four Tests in 2000 making his debut against South Africa in Mumbai but had to wait for more than three years for his next chance, which came against Australia in Sydney in January 2004, where he had a return of 1 for 211.
 
More or less like the case of Laxman ODI struggles. Unfortunate career. Still the Mumbai test against aussie......
