GCA3 fixture in today's Addy had a bye and no Corio Bay. Have they folded, or just playing in GCA 5ths/6ths/7ths?

That's what GCA1 clubs say when they fail to progress beyond the pool round

Mano won't merge. I don't think talks ever got beyond the polite enquiry stage. They shouldn't have any problems with fielding 4 sides in GCA2 as now all their veterans can play in the 1-day comp in GCA2 4ths - they didn't want to play 2-dayers last season.

    Gca Points System

GCA have gone with a 48-point cap for next season, although they've amended the "loyalty discount" from 3 to 5 seasons. I still think some clubs might struggle with this. They woundn't want too many recently-acquired outsiders, or might find themselves over the cap.

It' be D Boyle wouldn't it? According to MyCricket, he only played 4 games/days in the 5ths and 1 in the 6ths, and as long as their 5ths played at least 13 days of home-and-away cricket (which is what most 5ths/6ths/7ths played for the season), he'd have needed 6 playing days to qualify?

I'm not in the know, but have heard a couple of times recently that Manifold and Bell Park might be talking about getting together. City for Manifold and Modewarre for Bell Park as next season's changes are just about a given. Finals results are irrelevant. Modda reckon their turf will be...

St Albans won GCA2, top 4 all pretty close - SABCC 78.11, City 77.17, Murghe 76.53, St Peters 72.47. City not getting started last Saturday when only needing 14 runs to win cost them.

Rate GCA turf grunds 1-25 (Rate on Surface, Facilities, Wicket etc)

Provisional finals grounds have been circulated - 1sts GFs at Newtown, Newcomb & Winchelsea. No doubt we can now look forward to another chest-thumping editorial by Wazza in the Tribune :) A couple of surprises IMO - Guild has a QF in GCA2 and Hurst Reserve #2 (not a great ground to field on...

The assessment order isn't worked out until after the season's end, so there's no way Bell Park could be "confirmed" already, even if they'd asked the GCA to be demoted (which I doubt). But they and Manifold respectively would be odds-on, you'd think. Good effort from Highton to seemingly stay...

They tend to use GCA2 grounds for GCA2 finals. Although last season a GCA2 QF (St Albans/AT I think) was scheduled for Torquay and ended up being changed at fairly late notice to St Joseph's, not sure why Torquay's ground was not available.

Not sure the ACCC has really captured the imagination of the Geelong cricket public. I think most would rather be resuming cricket this weekend as opposed to the next and don't regard the ACCC as a must-see event. It's also caused events like the GCA T20 comp to be forgotten - when I last...

Dewy seemed keen about it at the last GCA general meeting, and let's face it, the current salary cap system is not exactly working and everyone (including GCA management) is aware of this. But until the GCA tables its draft preferred points system, it's only a concept for general discussion...

No offence, but talk is cheap and I'll believe it when I see it. Who else would want to take that job on?

St Peters out all year, almost certainly Thomson's as well. St Peters hope to play on Manifold's wicket after Xmas but I wouldn't be betting on it; their square is not in great nick. Thomson will probably seek to play at "away" team's grounds as GCG was only a temporary fix I believe. The...

No GCA2 sides are particularly good batting sides, or are hit and miss at best, so St Albans and City, on the strength of their respective bowling line-ups, would be the most preferred at this stage. City not as good with the bat this year and Pitts has yet to hit top stride, so slightly prefer...

Clearance list might not be up on GCA website for a while; don't think the GCA has filled Pennant and Statistician positions on Management Committee yet.
