Air is a quite magical thing!
I've seen some pretty nasty curve in the major leagues in the US, however they are normally either up or down. Since all baseball is cross bat the side-to-side isn't as effective as it is in cricket, so a lot of the curve comes from either back or top spin.
As...
Haddin and the selectors talk like he'll be there forever... not good signs for change if you ask me.
I've got to back Siddle now, he's changed his entire game from the first time we saw him (upon which I immediately called him an idiot and wouldn't back him for my life) but he seems to have...
The only good game this season was Heat vs Hurricanes where the Heat won their first game of the tournament by three runs. That said it wasn't highly exciting, merely the best game. I have to say I was excited at first, but it's really fizzled out and I'm now asking all the questions that have...
Kram's email just popped up in my inbox (for some reason yours didn't, Dave) so I'll pop back in and see what I can add. A lot of this you've probably either already worked out or have read somewhere, but I'll put down what I know anyway.
I dropped out of physics earlier than most would so I...
Well it may only get worse. CA are pushing for the split innings idea they trialed last year for the one dayers the last I heard and really wanting to throw things on their head and spark some interest in ODIs.
What did you guys think about the split innings idea now that the trial period has...
I found the bowlers in the ODIs have been the best they have been for a long time. The all out pace attack was a bit of a gamble as it came off sometimes and not others, but get guys like Ryan Harris or, as they have now, Hastings along with Lee, Johnson and Watson and that's a good bowling line...
I like Cricket Australia's policy on retaining players, especially in the Test squad. They graft and grow players, or retain older players knowing that having them out in the middle will get them back in form eventually. There comes a time, though, when it's too much and you have to drop them...
Signed up as well. Hopefully you guys can find a place somewhere to play, looks like you were just starting to get some serious interest going.
Mabye this stupidity can gain you some publicity? Get together a good argument with plenty of evidence backing you and send it to the local papers.
Absolutely agree with you Shamrock. People want the World Cup to be shorter, and the only way is to reduce the teams in reality. But to do that you take the World out of the World Cup and it just turns into a rerun of the Champions Trophy.
Your idea there both reduces the teams and allows the...
The novelty of Twenty20 as a whole seems to be wearing off. Nobody really takes it seriously, at least in Australia anyway. With the ODI World Cup you really get stuck in and follow your team, see how they're going, cheer when they win and boo when they lose. With the T20 World Cup it doesn't...
Well... Australia in a bit of trouble here at 138/4.
Ponting really looks back in form, he didn't have a single play and miss or doubtful looking shot, but he was run out by some quite brilliant fielding in the deep combined with an incompetent Watson, who seems to have quite a bit of trouble...
I loved this World Cup. A lot of it probably came from my low expectations from it.
The subcontinent pitches and grounds usually end up with boring very loud (too much atmosphere) and one sided affairs, but that didn't happen as it usually does. It was great seeing the minnows out there again...
Wow, what a World Cup. I was thinking at the start of it that it was going to be terrible considering the state of the sub-continent at the moment and the ever-boring pitches they produce, but there were quite a few games amongst it all.
Finally Tendulkar gets a World Cup to add to his...
I would love to have access to some quality comedy. The closest place here is Brisbane (5 hour round trip) and if you've heard Australian comedy lately you'll know how terrible it is normally let alone at a more amateur level. There aren't any theatres set up like the Apollo and they don't have...
Yeah I've seen Kalinga park a few times, watched a bit of a game there but haven't played on it. Toowong sounds a bit iffy with all the uni students around :D
We have one massively bouncy artificial pitch, which is terrible for me because that's my biggest downfall - bounce. What is worse is...
Ahh gotta love John Bishop. I wish Jack Dee still hosted Live at the Apollo (not sure it's even on anymore?), the most miserable man in the world makes for great viewing. You notice that Ian Hislop was in the audience? Wonder if he'd be any good at a stand up routine...
I watch almost entirely English TV now, so I know quite a few jokes about Liverpool :D. I switched to watching mostly the Beeb because pretty much Australia can only produce good TV about 1 in 5 times and there's only so much you can take before you turn over to a channel that still produces...
It's not all about the girls, Dave :D
I'm not a fan of facebook either, but it can be used as a tool for cricket, particularly in promoting the game. The best way to advertise now is to post something up on there and everybody will see it and spread it if they like it.
In particular with...
I'm up in Gympie at the moment, but played most of my cricket on the Sunshine Coast (predominantely for Coolum, although I don't think they have a club anymore). I've only played about 8 games in Gympie, 5 of them being social games organised between a bunch of mates. On the coast there are some...
The Aussies are off to a relatively easy and short start to what will be a tough lead up to and a tough home summer of cricket. Bangladesh are looking to perform in front of their ever fanatical home crowd and try to beat a down and out side that dropped out long before they were expected in the...
