Umpire & Laws Of The Game

Dave - the batsman should be ready as soon as the bowler gets to the end of his mark. Hence why Trott gets so much stick! Haha

    Practice Ball Brands

Readers are decent mate, my old club used them for matches and as skipper I'd take them home. Lovely for spinners!

    Wrist Spin Coaching

One on one coaching. With me. Please. :D but in all seriousness, it would depend on his target audience, as Tony says would it be aimed at county level juniors, minor counties cricketers, ECB league or just anybody?

    Can You Comment My Batting

Balance fella! Your weight seems to be too far forward, causing the "walk" down the pitch. try to keep your head over the ball, but not too far. Nice technique, straight bat!

    Wearing A Sweatband When Batting

It depends if you're actually going to USE it or not. If yes, go for it. If not, you will look a bit... Big time? Just make sure you actually use it!

    Off Spin Bowling

Big fan of Swanny, between him and Vettori I have 2 bowling "idols" in the game, so to speak. I think it is a dip in form, we all have them, it's just taken Swanny longer than most (only in the long form, his short form game is still tremendous!)...

    Off Spin Bowling

Well, I'm back to the bowling forum after an interesting foray into the "batsmen" forum... Altie, this is a very interesting style you've got going on, a mix of many different unorthodox styles. I have had a dabble with this before, didn't really do too much with it as I didn't fancy losing my...

If A Batsmen Could Hit Every Ball For 4 Or 6?

Well you can't make up stats, otherwise they wouldn't be stats, would they...? I gave you my answer too, I see you neglected it! I don't think it would affect the game, unless everyone gained the ability to do it. Also, please don't comment on me and my abilities without knowing me, you need...

If A Batsmen Could Hit Every Ball For 4 Or 6?

You know what? I'll take my sensible answers, like the one with all the statistics (Bob Woolmer's art and science of cricket, if you must know), and go back to the spin forums, where there are sensible debates! I'll leave you with my answer (for the second time!): if it happened, the laws would...

If A Batsmen Could Hit Every Ball For 4 Or 6?

I'm not even going to rise to that. Troll much? Safe to say, I play at plenty a high enough level. I'm just using a little common sense. I've got a lot of knowledge on this background, don't worry!

If A Batsmen Could Hit Every Ball For 4 Or 6?

Firstly, I said you could hit every ball for a boundary chap, not a 6. Just to make that clear! Also, well, you asked for an answer, so I answered you? The amount of wood needed at the bottom of a bat to hit a yorker for four, would mean you would need a) either a 3lb+ bat, b) a VERY light bat...

If A Batsmen Could Hit Every Ball For 4 Or 6?

It's not really much of a question though, because it is never going to happen. Bowling is evolving all the time just as batting is. It's not like StickCricket, you don't get bowled full tosses, half volleys, and long hops every ball. A yorker on leg stump followed up by one outside off is going...

If A Batsmen Could Hit Every Ball For 4 Or 6?

He's not yet a great test batsman, nor is it certain he will be. Remember Phil Hughes? He scored twin tons against SA in his second match. Where is he now? Down at the job centre. Give Warner time.

    Spin Bowling Appendix

We shall see Dave! Struggling to find the time to write it at the moment, snowed under with Uni work, work work, and literally snowed under with skiing! I've just changed clubs back home, and I'll probably blog about that, to get me back into the swing of things! I'll get a load written up soon...

    Spin Bowling Appendix

It might well do when I find the time to type it up Dave! It's currently scrawled around on different bits of paper, so I'm not sure how to put it all into one appendix right now!

    Spin Bowling Appendix

Alright guys, I've just started making a spin bowling guide (nothing like Menno's, just working on some of the stuff you see in Philpott's book, and a bit of Woolmer's too), talking about stuff like different deliveries, how to bowl them, usefulness (in what situations, how to set batsmen up...

    Clueless Commentators

As a general rule, commentators aren't really sure about spin variations. Warney obviously is clued up, and Benaud has a good idea as well (obvious reasons, again) but I find that even most of the Indian commentators don't have a scooby-doo what's going on! I've often sat there shouting at the...

    Cricket Bat

My 2 penniesworth exactly Dave. Bite the bullet, work on strength. A light bat is all well and good, but there is a limit. There is a reason that the lightest full-size bats start at 2'7 (normally), because any lighter and the weight distribution is difficult. you need a certain amount of weight...

Ooo Tim Phillips? The SLA? Liz, would you be able to put some detail into this? Essex is a trek but for that level of coaching...

Notepad/ Analysis Notebooks For Coaches... To Be Used During Matches

What do you mean is there any standard note pad available? They'd just use a normal pad. It would be difficult to get hold of any of the international ones, mainly because they're for specific cricketers, so they require specific tactics. Please could you be a little more specific? :)
