Re: The Carrom Ball
Boris,
I have been trying as well (I am left-arm-orthodox).. please explain how you got it working easier.. i end up putting them short
Re: Video of me left arm orthodox
This sunday we played a game - i was able to put a little more oomph into my pivot and was able to get good dip and bounce - result 6 overs, 1 maiden, 32 runs, 3 wickets. All 3 wickets were stumping.. batsmen jumped out for ball on or outside offstump ball...
Re: Video of me left arm orthodox
Shrek thanks..
your comment "think one suggestion would be to try and bowl with a higher arm. Right now, you are bowling with arm level at your shoulder (almost), Try getting it up higher - say 11 o clock at least."
11'o clock with what as reference my...
Re: Wrist Spin Bowling (Part Three)
SteveyD,
I am exactly same as you in fielding :-) cant catch a skier even if my life depended on it... great as a sweeper fielder - wont let a four go by covering a large area.. my skipper makes me stand at fine leg and i pretty much cover the back yard...
Re: Video of me left arm orthodox
Drtan,
I am trying that.. like dave said i put more oomph into the pivot and follow thru.. could see my finger pointing down post release (spin up) the thumb going up - when does the happen about-release or post release?
Last week bowled to a left hander...
Re: Video of me left arm orthodox
Dave (someblokecalleddave)
I saw your post on youtube asking what surface we are playing on.
It is a concrete pitch with mat on top.. thats how most of the cricket pitches are here in america.
Re: Video of me left arm orthodox
Thanks dave.. i started putting more power into my pivot and I see the ball getting a good shape.. but do you think my pivot (not considering the oomph) is OK?
Re: Video of me left arm orthodox
Thanks Tumo
When I try to put more spin with the fingers - the ball turns well but falls short - I really wish I could correct that soon. I think it has to do with my pivot - does it look smooth?
My bowling arm does not seem to come across my body after...
Video of me left arm orthodox
Here is a video of me bowling Left arm orthodox in a match - i ended up at 4-30-3 (4 overs 30 runs 3 wickets)..
My bowling starts from 3:49 on the video. you will see all the six balls in my over - 2nd ball a catch missed by keeper, 3rd ball a six, 5th ball...

Re: Wearing helmet
Yesterday I put a cricket ball in a sock - tied it at a height and started hitting it.. wearing helmet... doesnt seem as difficult. Will continue practicing like that.
Re: left-arm-spin
Thanks guys,
Generally during practice after couple of balls (may be after one over) I get into a rythym where I can control the line, vary the pace very well..most batsmen mistime catches to deep-mid off and long-on. It is in matches - I dont hit rythym immediately and...
Re: left-arm-spin
On plain concrete pitch - I am able to turn the ball - the same does not happen when I bowl on a concret pitch with a green mat on the top.
Re: left-arm-spin
Thanks Tumo,
Will try that. I notice that there are lot of revs on the ball, even when it goes in top-spinny way.
The pitches where we play are concrete with a carpet on top of it - there i notice that ball bounces more and probably straightens
left-arm-spin
All,
I have been bowling left-arm orthrodox for the past few seasons. Not a big turner of the ball but can get the ball to flight, dip and bounce decently well to make the batsmen misjudge the length.
The ball goes scrambled and I notice that it is mostly a topspinner with...
Wearing helmet
Hi All,
I am right handed batsman, with decent defensive technique and can play very well on the square and behind the wicket. Generally I go lower in the order 7th or 8th down to rotate strike to the main batsmen.
I never wore helmet during my batting. Generally for a...
