And that's all they will win -
Barclay: Lower Eltham 2nd beat Diamond Creek 1st
Money: Bundoora United 3rd beat Eltham 4th
B Grade: Mill Park 2nd beat Thommo United 1st
A bit of a surprise, but none the less congratulations to Epping's John Lever on winning the Ray Christesen Medal from Shannon Malone, Tim Wise and Glenn Turner. Maybe the two Rsearch boys pulled votes from each other ?
And the Team of the Season - Tim Wise (C), Brent O'Connor, John Lever...
Congrats to Camera's Dhushanta Ranatunga on winning the Gleeson Medal and to the members of the Team of the Season - Scotty Gibbs (C), Corey Cogan, Dhushanta Ranatunga, Jamie Scott, Lasith Fernando, Mark Minney, Matty Crawford, Michael Butera, Ray Kelsey, Scotty Barnett and Steve Kemp.
Some interesting scores across the grades after Day 1 of the grand finals.
Also, anyone can confirm a rumor heard yesterday at the local of a fracas at one of the finals on Saturday ?
Don't think the Rosanna score will be a real challenge for Creek and should see the favs advance easily to the grannie.
Very competative score by Rosanna and puts the real pressure on Lower. Maybe a case of score on the board counts here.
And apologies to Lalor Stars and Bundoora United who...
Good effort by Eltham to restrict the strong Stars batting. Now up to their stars to respond. Evenly poised at the halfway mark.
Think Boro are in the drivers seat after really restricting the United batters. Lookin good for another grannie berth.
Solid effort by Creek but think Thommo will get that with only a few down.
Evenly poised after Mill Park were in big trouble mid innings. Nixon the key if Whittlesea are to win.
Ooops, forgot to put my thoughts on the C Grade finals up yesterday.
Lalor Stars vs Heidelberg - Obviously Stars are the favs and have put up a challenging total for Heidelberg. Stars to win
Montmorency vs Bundoora United - United have also posted a good score and Mont will need to be on...
Selections:
Interesting that we have two of the established DVCA clubs matched up against two of the newer (from HDCA) clubs. Great to see !
Diamond Creek vs Rosanna - This will be a grind em out affair with the Creekers moving into another grannie.
Lower Eltham vs Macleod - Think the Lower...
Selections:
Lalor Stars vs Eltham - Both have good solid batting lineups and think the game will be decided by the better bowling attack which Stars appear to have.
Greensborough vs Bundoora United - A tossup but think the experience of the Boro boys may be what gets them into another grannie.
Selections:
Thomastown vs Diamond Creek - Thommo have been the top side all season and no reason to go against them this late in the season.
Mill Park vs Whittlesea - Both teams can post big scores but also have brittle lineups. Think Whittlesea can reverse the Rd8 result.
Well, after all the issues, mainly weather, that has dogged the competition this season the Sub-District competition is finally down to the real pointy end - the Grand Finals. And both grannies have the tinge of intrigue and anticipation about them.
Traditional rivals Malvern and Caulfield...
It's down to four teams in each of the Groups as the Sub-District season moves to its climax. And it's good to see that the top four teams in each group have made it thru to this round. All have been consistent thru the interrupted season and will look for the silver lining in this weekends...
After what has been an unbelievable season of disjoint we have finally made it to the start of the finals series, and let's hope that there are two god days of play to allow the cream of the competition to rise to the top. With the majority of matches during the season having been reduced...
The final round for sixteen of the clubs and good scheduling by the old man executive with a 1-Dayer so that no funny business, or contrived results, can be enacted to help or hinder clubs. With the weather being the main hindering factor this broken season.
VSDCA. North South Group. Round...
In this unpredictable of seasons, even with just two rounds to go, the weather is still looking to make its presence felt. And what a shame if it did interfere with what is shaping as an interesting round as teams battle for the last remaining finals spots.
VSDCA. North South Group. Round...
Let's hope that we get some play in tomorrow. And if we do, here are my selections:
VSDCA. North South Group. Round 11. Sat 12th Feb. 1-Dayer. Selections Bolded.
Plenty Valley (2-2-5) vs. Caulfield (7-0-2)
Elsternwick (5-2-2) vs. Brunswick (5-0-4)
Ormond (5-0-4) vs. Preston (2-1-6)...
Damn. Another day's cricket lost to the unhelpful weather. And I wa sjust going to lodge my selections here. Ah well, will wait for next week now.
And on the weather note, a question for all the old Subbies. IS this the worst season for weather interruptions ?
Stay dry and warm everyone.
Another round of the hit and giggle One-Dayer as the season enters the home stretch with a number of teams staring a barren season unless they can gain the points in this round. With the great weather forecast there should be plenty of action at all grounds - fingers crossed.
Sub-District...
