Those that think bringing in the points system will encourage spending should highlight this to AFL Victoria, who are bringing in the points system to stop over the top spending.
Funny, most other comps are going towards points system. But yeah, subbies is the best so why change right.
Wish...
There are premier grounds not being used this week so I would say the GF would be on those grounds. And if they are aligned then it would happen, ie the West comp would play at Footscray, East comp at Fitzroy etc
Personally, id rather play a GF on the best grounds with the best wickets with the...
End of the day, CV don't need association support (it would be great if they have it but not essential).
CV can start a new comp, and ask clubs that want to join. Any club can leave VTCA VSDCA etc and join CV's comp without needing approval from anyone. Im sure CV will run a pretty attractive...
Haha Fair call. Although you can probably understand the frustration from everyone else in Melb at why subbies is being so stubborn. Especially when the subbies pres came out at the start of all this and said we will fight tooth and nail for any change before even seeing the alternative...
You didnt read what i said properly, and actualy you agree with me.
All subbies clubs would start in the top grade, then start their drift down, as they wont be able to match it with the best. Thus these clubs rely on being carried by the subbies comp to go out and say they play "subbies...
"Hole" - Most subbies clubs would be shitting themselves that they wont be able to compete with the strong "non subbies" clubs, and thus would end up driffting down the grades to where they belong. Where as at the moment they are carried by the subbies concept.
Pointless considering the restructure will happen the season after. And it will happen. CV job is to govern cricket in this state in the best interests of everyone.
CV are only concerned about whats in the best interest for cricket in Victoria, and are not biased.
Associations don’t care about anything else but their own association, (and to an extent nor should they).
I can, drizzle forcast for tomorrow. Could turn to something heavy.
And if you are putting covers down, might as well be the large ones, otherwise whats the point of putting covers at all. Most clubs have dirt patches from rd 1 wickets.
Put small ones down, it rains, table gets wet, no play.
Overachieved might not have been the right word, but on paper you clearly didnt have the 4th best side, yet as a team deserved to play finals. Just an opinion.
Good to hear you will get a 2nds side this year, although most strong clubs can get 5 sides and run a vibrant juniors program.
APW have a very stong 1st XI, and were two wins away from winning senior Div. Yes they may have overarcheived, but they are a strong 1st XI team.
They struggle to put a 2nd XI side on the park. Under your proposal they can recruit their way into Premier, and not have enough players for a 2nd XI.
so you are happy for a club to win their way into premier cricket, dispite not having enough players for 4 sides?
cricket victoria are there to run cricket. they will decide whats best for cricket. the associations will always decide whats in their best interest.
if that import helps with coaching the juniors, is a positive influence and brings a better standard to the club then what the club is used to, then its money well spent regardless of if you win a premiership or not.
i think VTCA are doing the best they can, but the reality is untill Cricket Victoria step in and restructure all metro turf cricket, any decision the vtca make will dissapoint some. they always make the decision that the majority wanted. Fair enough if the vote on re-structure should have not...
