Thanks Dave, I have read the book, and I kind of understand what you are saying.
I think for some time, I was bowling sliders or legbreaks, with my wrist over the ball
sometimes to the right of the ball.
Then watched some of warne's slow motion and realized my wrist should be on the left
side...
Shane Warne at 0:23
The wrist is mostly facing forwards and he seems pull back the wrist and go over the seam.
It seems like you need a long ring finger to do that.
Can you guys post a sequence of images that shows the wrist and finger position when you are bowling the big legbreak?
I am struggling to get the ring finger over the ball and when I try that position with the ball in hand, it seems
impossible to have any kind of support on the ball if the index...
I am assuming one starts with a cocked wrist, then at some point
it becomes neutral, and then goes the other way, at the same time
the wrist turns sideways 45 degrees, palm facing away from you
and then the ring finger goes over the seam for release?
Is this what is being called wrist flick?
Here is Yasir Shah, tucking his thumb inside.

I cannot get my index and middle finger the slide across the ball like that and fully engage the ring finger.
Is it to do with wrist position?.
Richie Benaud amazing footage
RIP Richie - more than anything else what a great gentleman, he showed
how to be humble and kind.
Would like to know what you guys think about his bowling. Looks
quick to me, unfortunately no view right behind the bowler.
Hi Joe,
I am in a similar boat. I bowl great in the nets, not a single bad ball, but on the main pitch - full tosses on the legs.
I had a horror game as well, with 20 runs to defend in a 20/20 game, bowled the 19th over and gave away 15, with 5 wides on the off side. Needless to say I betrayed...
Hi Dave,
Great video. You can see both the spinners are 95% similar, except the left arm of McGill going away. Very good demonstration of the fundamentals.
I bowl in the nets a lot to a US U-19 player. He will kill anything middle or leg.
Having him drive to cover with the ball turning keeps him quiet and I vary
the amount of spin. Well disguised top spinner is the wicket taking ball.
I am not consistent yet with googly and working on it.
Thanks hiesteem - these are good observations.
What should the position of my left shoulder/arm should be at your snapshot #1?.
I have tried to land my left foot facing fine leg, it still rotates and lands either straight down the wicket or
facing slips. I am wondering if my body is...
Not sure my right foot is always parallel to the crease - the first video is my foot lands most of the time.
Whatever I try, my left foot seems to rotate to off side during landing - is this due to my body rotating
too early?
