Has been very quiet on here this year... Any early predictions?
Top 2:
Deepdene
Bulleen
I think the bottom 2 spots in the top 4 are wide open. I expect the middle of the table to be jam packed
Relegation
Burwood
Marcellin
A-Turf Premier: Glen Iris
Round 1 winners:
Mully vs MA
NB vs Bulleen...
I agree, all grounds are different and sometimes clubs have to work with the hand they are dealt. Olney facilities are very poor, but the deck there has always been good when I have played there. The ground generally handles rain well and the deck is flat always making it a good even contest. I...
The newly acquired sports grounds by St. Kevin's College will not help the old boys cricket team move from Yarra Bend. The proposal of facilities at the new site include tennis courts, athletics track and soccer/hockey fields made only in sytho grass so not suitable for senior turf cricket.
Tips:
Ashy - Will smash em
Deepdene - Too strong on paper. Should get the job done.
GI - Too much fire power for SH to compete
Mulgrave - I reckon will be much closer than most think, but Mully enough class.
Mont Albert - Toss of the coin
Skevs - Nth Balwyn a bit of a lottery depending on what...
It's probably why they started with the 2-dayer anyway, but they should just call it off now and we'll play a 1-dayer on Oct 12.
If the ECA know "most" of the decks are a bit dodgy, they should give everyone as much notice as possible instead of leaving it till Friday night or Saturday morning...
Great topic prior to the start of this season. The ECA have lost complete control of this and now must go one of two ways: Police the rules around professional (paid) players better OR remove the rules so that clubs can be transparent about who they have on their books.
I wouldn't mind the...
If this is true then it is an ABSOLUTE disgrace! The ECA's decision is not in the spirit of our competition and not in the spirit of cricket in general. I hope the ECA Exec keep tabs on this forum so they can get a feel for how negatively this decision has been received by ALL clubs and players...
All your points are really valid and I may have exaggerated a little. I can see how they do add to the comp, however I think we can sometimes go a little over-board with how good they are and how important they are to a teams success in this competition. I think these players sometimes can be a...
These "poms" are hit and miss. There is always so much talk about them and how good they are going to be. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it fails horribly. I think they actually ruin the competition and can damage the culture of a club if they become too obsessed with o/s players. How about...
Agreed. Totally wrong way to go about things! What I don't get is, it is not like we are talking about captaincy of the country or the state. Is a promise of captaincy of the GI cricket club or any ECA club really that much of a prestigous thing, especially for a young kid? This is a good...
Not too sure where you are getting this info from, but from what I hear GI and SKOB are doing fine.
I wouldn't really think SKOB would be "gutted" from a GF loss to the point where the club would collapse. I think that's a bit of an overstatment. They came from nowhere to contest for the flag...
I know it's VERY early on, but I'll have a crack.
Top 4 (in any order):
Ashy
GI
Deepdene
Skevs
I know this was the top 4 from last year, but I just don't think these sides are losing much from last year and more importantly, I don't see the other teams gaining much ground.
