    Vtca Season 2017/18 & 2018/19

It would appear that no team in this comp. managed to play a game for the whole season. So sad, but not unexpected. This is now, officially, the forum for dead competitions. Well done to all who killed it, and any interest that may have survived.

    Vtca Season 2016-17

Has anyone who was in a position of responsibility within the V.T.C.A. been called to account for what they've done to destroy a perfectly good cricket competition?

That makes sense. They probably did this over the Xmas break. Thanks for the reply. The bloke who looks after it does a marvellous job.

I generally agree with your assessment of the ground. However, when I was last there, a couple of months ago, the ball would raise a small cloud of sand when it landed in the outfield. Is this still happening? I saw no evidence of the turf shifting under foot, but thought it a bit strange, given...

A simply splendid game of cricket, even though my mob lost.

English is more effective than this as a form of communication. Very few of us are fluent in gibberish. Just a hint.

This board has given oxygen to a bunch of self-laudatory cretins. No surprise, really. It seemed unlikely that it could have become worse, but here you are.

Your only fault, albeit a minor one, is your over-weaning modesty. Then again, you have much about which you should be modest.

I used to umpire in the VTCA, and now do so in a comp. in Gippsland. Re: the leg side wides - Are they instituting this rule to prepare players so they can comfortably play one-day cricket for Australia? If so, they are catering for a most unlikely event. If they are doing it to deter defensive...

It makes you proud that such an exquisite writer would associate himself with our game. Not that he had a choice.

I think it fair to assert that the people best-placed to independently assess the performance of the strip would be the umpires who stood in the game. At the tea break on the second day, as they were coming back onto the ground, I asked the umpires if the track was, "doing much". The reply from...

I must admit that what has been posted on here about Roach has been of some concern. I was hoping to get to the final day, but was too knackered to drive 120 km, at 2.15 PM, from the game I was scoring in South Gippsland. If it's of any interest, I'll attempt to obtain a Bentleigh view of what...

I played my last season when I was 50, after a break of about 7 years. Work commitments did for me in the end. That and arthritis in the shoulder.

I think the key to the game lies with how well McInnes bowls for Bentleigh. Another factor is the bowling of Hill, whose leggies routed YC when they played earlier in the season. If these two bowl well, Bentleigh may already have enough (big call, I know). As usual, catches will be vital. It's...

For a person who wants to merely discuss cricket, you display a fine turn in personal insult. Is that how you think cricket should be played?

Yeh, you're right there, I'm 62. I will certainly visit the the spinning threads. It will probably not surprise you that I was a fast-medium bowler who turned to leg spin in his dotage. It is appropriate that you apologise for being a Pommy. :)
