That looks like an amazing game of cricket.
Beauy cruising at 3-213 last week, lose 6-15 and declare at 76 overs.
Hampton struggling first at 5-66, then 8-137 chasing 229 to win, somehow get into a position to win, only for Kezilas to be run out for 97 on the last ball for a tie.
How valuable...
I know for a fact that Bentleigh had an issue going back 10 or more years with lack of umpires in the lower XI's in the VTCA. They were playing young sides in their 3rd and 4th XI's and on too many occasions were playing games with NO umpires.
There were a few games against certain teams [no...
Before the round I think OM were about 80 runs or 4 wickets ahead of Bentleigh, but with Bentleighs big score even a OM victory may still see Bentleigh sneak in. But yes, you'd imagine if OM chase down the 230 odd they need, they should make it.
But 2nd innings bonus points could be vital.
What a difference a week makes.
Last Saturday there were pristine perfect conditions for batting, with some big scores posted.
Tomorrows forecast is for rain, cloudy and a top of 17.
Not ideal for chasing down some of the scores posted last Saturday.
Perhaps the rain might save the bacon of a...
I would say a combo of both. Judging by the scores in Round 1 where Bentleigh 2nds scored 3-181 in 40 overs only to be knocked off by Keilors 5-198, the wicket must be a decent one. Outfield is pretty quick as well from what I hear.
Greenvales strength is in their batting and not necessarily...
Bentleigh's website reports they will continue their tradition of English imports with two more announced.
Tom Sephton, a spin bowler who played for Preston in Subbies in 2009-10 and Minor County fast bowler Chris Williams will be playing for Bentleigh next season.
Add them to new Captain-Coach...
Last weeks local paper announced Bentleigh signed former NZ First-Class player Greg Todd as Captain/Coach.
I'd never heard of him but 64 First-Class matches with 4 centuries and 20 half-centuries would indicate the guy can bat.
Played for Central Districts and Otago in NZ.
Drives past the ground everyday?
Have you ever played at a game at Bentleigh Reserve? You can't really see the table when you fly by on Centre Road, so he must drive up Bolinda Street everyday? Yeah right.
Council definately prepares the wicket at Bentleigh Reserve, so there you go.
I can't...
The council assigns what grounds the curators work on for the season. So I doubt a curator could "jump ship" even if he wanted to. I'm sure the VTCA is happy that one of their Senior Division grounds has a decent curator now, as would all of the visiting clubs and Bentleigh themselves.
You can...
well it makes sense that he be plying his trade at Bentleigh where Senior Division cricket is played, as opposed to Murrumbeena down in South A or B or where ever they play.
Bentleigh for the first time in years has a decent curator. The decks have been very good so far this season, and that is the final piece in the puzzle for the Bentleigh Rec Reserve, easily one of the best facilties in the comp now.
Yarraville were impressive, Bentleigh didn't bowl well, but...
Any surprises come out of Round 1?
Yarraville Club and Bentleigh continued on their merry way.
It looks like McKinnon were impressive against South Caulfield, I think the Heat will have a decent season.
Beauy with a first up win in Senior Division.
What else can we take from Round 1?
