Re: I can't be *bothered* with this........
I am actually feeling quite positive at the moment.
I was in the form of my life last Tues - everything I did went right.....(despite a new quickie eager to impress bowling off 21 yards)
;)
I was in the 1st team lane and it is looking pretty...
How to get a video hosted on the Internet
Anyone?
Not particularly clued up on this type of thing....
I've got a DVD of me playing and I've downloaded DVDX 2.10 but that is as far as I have got...
I've had a little play and keep getting the same message....
'Video player initialisation...
Re: Leg Spin
Yep, having had another look, the arm height is something that is a sticking point to me.
Ideally you'd be using your front arm more. Keep it tight to your body and pull down in order to allow you body to come through.
Re: Leg Spin
Having had a quick look at your clip, Dave, may I comment on your arm height. It it reasonably high and this could be the reason for the top spinning strength.
Personally, I'd suggest working off one step and getting a really solid base with which to work from. Having a...
Re: Scared of the ball
It is unlikely you'll have to contend with players of this calibre and pace. But the principle is the same. Watch the ball and be positive in your movements.
Do some ladder work/skipping in order to become lighter on your feet - and maybe do some reaction drills (Liz &...
Re: Scared of the ball
I've played against a few reasonably quick players - I've not felt exactly at ease against them, but outwardly I try and present a 'I'm not scared of you' type presence.
Force yourself to watch the ball and stay in line. It's a mental issue that instigates a physical...
Re: I can't be *bothered* with this........
Well I'm reet frustrated.
Double booked they were...... :cursing:
I'm going to approach the subject with my father of possibly going to the astroturf at the ground tomorrow..... ;)
Re: I can't be *bothered* with this........
Liz,
I've stopped any development of any doosra for the time being.
It seems my straight arm when bowling stock balls is now bent.....
Re: Making nets Purposeful
I use nets to
a) try new things
b) adopt suggested approaches
I had club nets on Tues. Quite successful actually - in the first team lane and a couple of reasonable new players, one of which is fairly sharp - this then coupled with the fact he's bowling off 21 yards...
Re: Who is your favourite cricketer and why?
Ian Bell and Romesh Powar. The latter is definitely under rated, in my humble opinion.
Edit: Plus Kallis of course.
Bell - Easy on the eye, attitude to his game is top drawer.
Powar - A clever bowler with decent variations.
Kallis - Mentally...
Re: Back Injury
It's been a bit off and on since the summer. I've had a trial on Sat and did a lot of bowling, and did more yesterday at club training - and today I'm feeling the effects.
It is just the spine.
It isn't right at the top, it's middle-top.
Re: Back Injury
Liz,
Re; back trouble - well I'm having some at the minute.
I'm in pain - it is my upper back. Sometimes I bend down and I'm in agony.
I arch my back when bowling - what is the problem likely to be?
Re: My Life = Cricket
First off, I'm not too experienced with the system in NZ.
It's all relevant. I'm not sure how good you are to gage whether or not it is realistic.
Striving to be the best you can be is fine and a great attitude to have. But you should really consider a coach/mentor...
Re: My Life = Cricket
Well you've got to maintain a sense of realism whilst stretching yourself to the absolute limit.
What if reaching a team is way beyond a player's capabilities, yet he still has this as a goal.
When he doesn't reach this team the player becomes deflated and so we go on...
Re: My Life = Cricket
That long term goal is dependent on many, many factors.
I'll use the straight drive as an example.
A player is unable to competently play the straight drive. Two cones were placed either side of the feeder and the player only managed three through the cones from twenty...
Re: My Life = Cricket
Unachievable goals are not the way to progress.
It's about striking a balance - goals that stretch you are necessary, but they have to be achievable. What is the point in setting an unrealistic goal and knowing this from the outset? You are aware you won't succeed, so it...
