Re: Fast Arm Speed Exercises
Since it has become common for fitness 'experts' to erroneously recommend rehab and assistance exercises to everyone, here goes:-
Notes from Mark Rippetoe's barbell-training certification:-
I spent a weekend in a two-day barbell training certification presented by...
Re: Fast bowling fitness
Jonsey, yes long enough to understand the long term development of a player. And I have found that cricket coaches ( even internationals) are among the most close minded when it come to strength and conditioning. And the aerobics community combined with their so called...
Re: Fast bowling fitness
It might be worth your while to join a crossfit facility in the UK to learn the big lifts correctly since you appear to be passionate about helping cricketers. Unless you lift, you will not know the difference.
some links to crossfit facilities in the UK...
Re: Fast bowling fitness
Weight lifting and falling into bad habits? Nothing like having a good coach but that does not necessarily stop you from learning . Bulk up with free weights? The objective is functional strength for sport, not bulking up. A 13 year old cannot bulk up much anyway. You...
Re: Fast bowling fitness
Thanks, David you seem to be open minded at least. I have taught young teens even at age 13 to bar bell squat their own body weight and more with the correct technique as taught by Rippetoe. And they are getting taller, stronger and faster.
Re: Fast bowling fitness
David, This kind of logic is self defeating. Just because you cannot get a good coach you advice against the best way to train? Of course one can find a good strength coach outside of cricket, Britain is not that backward is it? Finding a coach to teach you the big...
Re: Fast bowling fitness
Its absolute nonsense and just a myth. All you need is a good coach. The potential for injuries in soccer is more than weight lifting so do you stop your kids from soccer? It is high time we put these myths to rest. As I guess the purpose of this forum is to provide...
Re: Eating healthy, in general
And then came scientists like Richard Dawkins who gave due credit to the scientific progress being made by man and not an imaginary being in the sky
Re: Backlift trouble
Jimmy 33 is spot on. Work on a good grip position and load the bat with your top hand while preparing to play the ball. And forget about where your back lift is coming from. Focus on middling the ball instead.
Re: Footwork my foot
All that matters is "timing" . Sehwag has his own way of finding his "timing". No coach has all the answers and in the end the player has to focus on middling the ball and not worry about footwork as taught by any coach. If you are looking to score the feet will move...
Re: Keeping your back foot on the ground
This is a common problem with batters having a poor/ tight bottom hand grip and the lack of proper use of the top hand while loading the bat i.e. preparing to play the ball. Shoes are not the solution.
Re: Keeping your back foot on the ground
Jonsey, This is symptomatic of any of these - tight bottom hand grip, wrong grip, heavy bat or all the three. Try and practice using your top hand to load the bat with a light bottom hand grip. This is only while loading the bat as you need both hands to...
