Re: Provisional Winter Fitness Programme
compound lifts are those that utilize multiple muscle groups for their performance.
example: pull-ups utilize your lats, biceps, forearm muscles in one movement.
an isolation exercise is where the movement primarily only trains one muscle (ie. biceps...
Re: Leg side shots
by leg glance to the shorter balls, where are you trying to hit the ball - around fine leg or in the midwicket area?
I always tend to miss out on the length or short of length balls when I try to glance...
also, how exactly do you get the glance to go around midwicket? i...
Re: How much fitness do you do?
i'm hoping to start a new fitness regimen.
I want to mix weight lifting with some cardiovascular activities
My weight routine is a circuit and looks something like this:
-Pull ups (8-10) assisted
-Lat pull down (10-12)
-DB bench press (10-12)
-Squats (10-12)...
Re: Champions Trophy has been postponed
agree...they should scrap the CT and meaningless one day series (like the one Ind-Aus 7 ODI series).
I just think it is hypocritcal for players to complain about security in Pakistan when many of those same players were still playing in Jaipur despite...
Re: Trescothick makes ball revelation
The bottom line is trescothick didn't get caught while Rahul Dravid, who did something very similar did get caught. The big difference between real ball tampering and this is that it involved a natural process.
Example: I keep a small piece of course...
Re: Mohammad Asif Tests Positive for Drugs during IPL
even if he gets banned by the PCB, any appeals court procedure in pakistan would probably overrule the ban and reduce it. he needs to be banned by the ICC
Re: Help Me buy a new bat
you could always get an asian brand bat like SS, SG, CA, etc. and get a good bat for almost half the price of an english brand.
I know a lot of people like the CA Pro 10,000 (same one Inzy used to use). However, if you've got the money, I would recommend getting a...
Re: The simplyCricket Bat Clinic
yeah the two-tone refers to heartwood, not sure of what benefit it has to a cricket bat's performance.
in terms of grains, theory goes that more grains (ie. narrow grains) will give you good performance soon after purchasing it, but it will have a shorter...
Re: Match Fees - How much does it cost you to play?
Looking at a local team's info sheet: they paid about $1000 for equipment, $1000 for the fields, plus $700 for league dues. Charging $200/player for 15 players covers the cost, and the rest of the players' dues are saved I assume. There are...
Re: The elements that make up a good bowler - Part 3
yeah I agree variation is a key element of good bowling. but would you say that a bowler could use too much variation?
for example, Irfan pathan recently probably bowls more slower balls and cutters than an actual stock delivery, but has...
Re: following thorough fully
it should help you get used to driving your arms completely through and behind, which ought to create the sensation of completing the follow through
Re: Ganguly's thoughts on fitness: bad attitude or misunderstood?
yeah i saw that too. i guess ganguly isn't that far off with his attitudes towards fitness, and i'm assuming the bottom line is that training at the gym can be a nice supplement for playing, but that it shouldn't be the sole focus.
Re: The Bob Woolmer Way - batting
just thought i would revive this thread as I've just linked all 8 videos on a playlist. they all seem to be really good. The bowling videos are kind of dated, but the batting advice is still very relevant

Ganguly's thoughts on fitness: bad attitude or misunderstood?
http://sify.com/sports/fullstory.php?id=14719579
I kind of agree with what he is saying. Cricket is a physically demanding sport so he obviously must have some level of fitness to be able to have been able to play as well as he has...
Re: fast bowlers workout
even if you find these videos, you should not copy them. their fitness levels, body type/structure, etc. are all different from yours. i guarantee you that professionals will get workouts specially made for them, so its not wise to blindly copy the exact same regimen...
Re: The elements that make a good bowler - Part 1
having accuracy is definitely one of the most important aspects of bowling. the ability to put the ball where you want it is necessary in executing your plans.
pace without accuracy is waste.
