BANGLADESH vs ZIMBABWE 3rd ODI

After two defeats on the trot, Zimbabwe have to win this one to ensure that they stay alive in the series. Things are not going there way at all and Bangladesh have been able to register comfortable wins against the Zimbabweans riding on a solid opening pair and some extra ordinary left arm spin bowling.

Zimbabwe have to make some changes in the ranks to ensure that they put up some fight. The top order hasn't been able to deliver the goods and that has put enormous pressure on the middle order. None of the batsmen except Williams in the last ODI have been able to show any authority.

Things will be a lot easier if the top three come up with some runs.
Bangladesh on the other hand, have got everything going their way. The left arm spinners have done a commendable job and have been the stand out performers for them. Shariar Nafees at the top of the order has given the ideal starts they would have expected bagging a century and half a ton in the first two games.

A keen contest is on the cards as the Zimbabweans would look to bounce back hard at the home side.

Bangladesh: Shahriar Nafees, Mehrab Hossain jnr, Aftab Ahmed, Saqibul Hasan, Habibul Bashar (c), Mohammad Ashraful, Khaled Mashud (w), Mohammad Rafique, Mashrafe Mortaza, Abdur Razzak, Shahadat Hossain, Tushar Imran, Farhad Reza, Syed Rasel

Zimbabwe: Stuart Matsikenyeri, Brendan Taylor (w), Justice Chibhabha, Hamilton Masakadza, Sean Williams, Elton Chigumbura, Keith Dabengwa, Gary Brent, Prosper Utseya (c), Blessing Mahwire, Edward Rainsford, Mluleki Nkala, Ryan Higgins, Anthony Ireland, Tino Mawoyo, Graeme Cremer, Christopher Mpofu

Re: BANGLADESH vs ZIMBABWE 3rd ODI

Zimbabwe won the toss and told Bangladesh to bat.
A decent decision, since the ball will be tough to grip for the Bangladesh bowlers later on tonight, but this lets Bangaldesh put up a big total with the bat now.

Bangladesh 32-0 after 4 overs.
Nafees up to 18 from 18 balls already.

By the way, FREE LIVE VIDEO can be found at http://www.daruchini.com

I'm watching right now, it's working.

Re: BANGLADESH vs ZIMBABWE 3rd ODI

Brent makes an outstanding diving catch to eliminate Nafees for 35!
Bangladesh 64-1 after 10 overs, but for once they're going to have to get through most of the match without their top batsman.

Re: BANGLADESH vs ZIMBABWE 3rd ODI

Aftab taking too many big swings, and eventually he's caught, out for 16.

Bangladesh 85-2 after15.5 overs.

Re: BANGLADESH vs ZIMBABWE 3rd ODI

Mehrab unlucky to get out, nicks the ball onto his own stumps.

Other than that, they're going along nicely enough.

Bangladesh 119-3 after 27

Re: BANGLADESH vs ZIMBABWE 3rd ODI

Wow, Zimbabwe just blew an easy chance at a run out. Fielder couldn't make a good throw to the wicketkeeper, who had all the time in the world.

Bangladesh 158-5 after 39 overs.

Re: BANGLADESH vs ZIMBABWE 3rd ODI

Mashud and Rafique down now too.
Dabengwa with a great c&b on Rafique.

Bangladesh 179-7 after 43.4, with Ashraful the only batsman still out there.
They're not going to set a huge total here. Their bowlers will need to get the job done tonight to pick up a win to clinch the series.

Re: BANGLADESH vs ZIMBABWE 3rd ODI

Ashraful hits it to an open area next to the boundary but Chibhabha runs half a mile to make a diving catch and Ashraful is out for 36. Very tough luck for Ashraful.

Bangladesh 184-8 after 45.1, and at this point they'll be happy to reach 200

Whoa, Mortaza comes in and hits a 6
192-8 after 46

Re: BANGLADESH vs ZIMBABWE 3rd ODI

Bangaldesh batsmen have had trouble and tough luck, and just haven't been able to stay out there for as long as they want. Check out their top scorers today:
Mehrab 38
Ashraful 36
Nafees 35
Saqibul 26
Aftab 16

Decent enough, but nothing great and nothing match-winning.
(though it was the second good match in a row for Mehrab)

Re: BANGLADESH vs ZIMBABWE 3rd ODI

Mpofu gave up 28 runs in his first 4 overs, but he now has numbers of 3-41 after 9 overs.

Ban 205-9 with 2 more overs to go

Re: BANGLADESH vs ZIMBABWE 3rd ODI

Bangladesh all out for 220 after 49.2 overs

Mortaza 23 not out

Good batting from the tail there, it looked like they might be out for a lot less.
220 should be a good number, Zimbabwe will have their work cut out for them trying to get to 221. This'll probably turn out to be the closest match of the series so far.

Re: BANGLADESH vs ZIMBABWE 3rd ODI

Bangladesh have taken some early wickets,

Zimbabwe is 42-3 after 12 overs

It was working for me in the first innings, but I foolishly turned it off at the innings break and I was unable to access the webstream for Bangladesh's reply.

I wonder if perhaps they had too many people trying to access the site.

Re: BANGLADESH vs ZIMBABWE 3rd ODI

So, another win for Bangladesh.

Chasing 221, Zimbabwe were all out for 194 after 49 overs. Razzak was top bowler and man of the match with 5-33. Sean Williams hit 68 for Zimbabwe, but it was a one-man effort.

Bangladesh win the series, up 3-0 with only 2 more to go.

The next two ODI's are the debut* of the new national stadium in Mirpur, so even though the series is wrapped up, I think the crowd will be out in force.

* - okay, more of a grand re-opening than a debut, but it really is a completely updated stadium.
Here's an article on it with some nice pictures.

By the way, Bangladesh is now guaranteed of keeping their #9 spot in the ODI rankings, ahead of Zimbabwe.
