Barclay Shield 18/19

That area near the fence where the player took the catch is becoming a real problem & can anyone of you really think you look down immediately after you catch a ball , its not that simple & I find that pretty rich coming from guys who now try to promote themselves as never doing anything wrong ,
Obviously forgot about Bundoora not that long ago ?

If you catch it in the long grass, clearly its over the boundary. Anyway, the batsman walked off without complaint after the fielder said he caught it inside the field of play as per protocol.

How is the fielder supposed to know if he was over the imaginary line in between the cones when his eyes was on the ball going for a catch.
Unless he stepped over the line after he took the catch, if that was the case then fair enough ,I would be upset also but that’s park cricket and shit happens.
Thats the risk you take when you hit the ball in the air

From personal experience I found myself in a similar situation on the weekend when fielding 1st slip , it was one of those ones diving forward and grasping the ball.
I honestly didn’t know if it was a legitimate catch but there was a bit of doubt so I recalled the batsman who started to walk.

When comparing the 2 incidents it would be really hard for the outfielder to know if he stepped over the line therefore you would claim the catch. The situation I recently experienced was an easier decision to make.

Anyway , I heard it was a good game and the result could of gone either way

From my past experience, and this is just me, if i had ever taken a catch in the outfield lined with cones, the first thing i would have done was to check the straight line to the cone once the catch was taken to ensure that it was in play. But thats my natural reaction.

Oh come on, you know if you're over in the outfield. As Serg says, if taking a catch in the outfield and you know you're close, just stand still for a moment and look where you're standing. When running to field the ball you can see the cones, you know damn well if you're over or not. Anyone who says otherwise is lying.

Big pat on the back to Nick Carlton and Luke Anderson for their inspiration in coming up with the idea for the Pat Cronin Walk to the Valley 3 years ago. Great contribution to a great cause, great family from 2 very good men. About 200k raised over the journey. Looking fwd to a bigger and better next year with greater involvement from DVCA community.

About time NEW woke up and realised they don’t need a 3rd change specialist bowler..
have fun in Mill Park “Conor McGregor”

Half way point, how do we think the 4 will look come March? I think creek are the only certainty’s. Anyone in the top 8 can find their way in the 4.

I reckon Bundoora can roll LE this week, and there is a tricky little chase coming up for Rosanna.

Creek to finish top and Mont to bottom out are the only certainties atm. There's going to be some carnage in between over the next 7 weeks I reckon.

Don't write off Monty just yet. The need to win 2 of the last 3 games.

I reckon they are a good chance to get the runs this week. Diamond Creek couldn't even bat their overs.

Then if they beat North Eltham next game they are safe.
