Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

This match could prove to be a very interesting one indeed. With Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif not playing because of drug breaches and Inzamam-ul-Haq not eligible to play, Pakistan look very vulnerable and this could be where Sri Lanka pounce and take it right up to the Pakistanis.

Sri Lanka have won their last 14 matches in a row and with Pakistan's line-up severely depleted, Sri Lanka would have to be favourites. Get set for a corker of a game.

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

Malik and Afridi have come on and slowed the run rate down a little. It's finally under 6. Malik just got Jayawardene in the last over too.

Sri Lanka 144-3 after 25 overs.

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

192-5 after 36

Sri Lanka are running out of batsmen, so now a score of 300 isn't looking so likely anymore.

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

234-6 after 45

Sri Lanka have been slowed down here, but they're still going to be setting a fairly challenging total for Pakistan to chase.

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

Sri Lanka now 244/9 after 48.1 overs. A very respectable total, should be interesting to see how the Pakistanis respond to this as a results of their team being depleted of some key players. Time for the others to step up to the plate and make a match of if. Sri Lanka is now riding on a high on their unbeatean streak of 14 games, so this is very exciting indeed.

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

Sri Lanka competed their innings with 253/10. Let's see how Pakistan respond

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

Pakistan are 0/22 in the 3rd over. Mohammad Hafeez on 10, Imran Farhat on 10.

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

Pakistan off to a good start after 2.4 overs they are on 18/0

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

35/0 after 4.4 overs

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

Pakistan lost their first wicket, just when it looks like hafeez and farhat are about to establish a partnership. Hafeez caught out. The score is now 39/1 after 5.2 overs

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

38 overs in and the match is still definitely in the balance. This is the first 'real' match we've had in this tournament thus far. Pakistan are 181/5 and have a required run rate of 6.08. Shoaib Malik 22* and Kamran Akmal 12* are the batsmen, Imran Farhat's 53 is their highest score. Too bad I have to head out now...

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

Definitely the closest match of the tournament.
Pakistan 192/5 after 41 overs.

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

201-6 (42.1)

Vaas comes back and with his first ball he gets Akmal to take a big swing but Maharoof makes an acrobatic catch on the run right in front of the ropes.

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

225-6 after 46

Pakistan need 29 from 4 overs

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

238-6 after 47

Razzaq picked the right time to hit a 6. Pakistan need 16 from 18 balls.

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

255-6 after 48.1

Pakistan win! Razzaq does it with another 6. I know he wasn't the top scorer, but he gets my vote for MOTM. His hitting at the end is what won it.

Who'd have guessed? Sri Lanka finally have their 14 game win streak broken by an undermanned Pakistan team that was reeling from so many different issues.

We know have a very interesting tournament here, with New Zealand and Pakistan leading Group B. The battle for the Champions Trophy is on!

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

Superb win for Pakistan, they did it without the suspended batsmen, goes to show the success of a team does not lie with one or two or three individuals and when the chips are down, anyone could step up and get the job done. Congratulations to Pakistan!. Too bad for Sri Lanka, they were definitely on a winning streak, but as the saying goes: "Good things must come to an end sometime". This makes the remaining matches really interesting.

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

Was watching a little bit of it last night. Was impressed with the first 15 or so overs of the Pakistans innings. The left hander Farat (?) was impressive.

Looks like they got up, good on Pakistan on winning after such a shocking week.

Re: Champions Trophy: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka at Jaipur

 now see
Pakistan can do anything anytime that is what makes them different!
who could say Pakistan would do this?
Abdul Razzak was on with his fast and still managed to hit such massive sixes
when they want to win they do it anyway
