Delaying the Bowling Arm

I have tried hooking my hand under the door frame and nets. How many times to I have to do that in order to actually delay my arm when im actually bowling. Are there any alternative exercises other than hook your arm. Also, how can i use weights to delay the arm. I read in Ian Ponts book that it works as a sling shot.

There will be many different strategies appearing in this thread. Personally, I take the strengthening route.

The spine acts as a whip for the arm; making the shoulder joint very vulnerable.

You need to strengthen the spinal core muscles [multifidus and quadratus lumborum], stabilise the spine by strengthening the abs and bracing them during the bowl and strengthen the rotator cuff. This will give you a lot more control to suspend and delay the momentum of the arm and giving it a lot more power to whip through.
