England Lions, or England A are all set to be the foreign team in this season's Duleep Trophy. England A, incidentally, were the first foreign team to play the Duleep Trophy when the concept first came into existence in the 2003-04 season.

Of course they will learn things.Playing in the sub continent is probably the hardest tour a cricketer can go on.This will give them a taste of conditions should they go onto play for the full England side.

I agree; just like Wasim Akram told once in an Interview that every player must play County cricket at least once in his life.
Similarly players in from England,SA or Australia should try and play in India.
Because they will get to experience differenet pitch condition, climatic condition and the media hype as well.
All of it will be a great test of the player's caliber :)

The last time england a played they lost both of their games. If the standard was too low for england a team then that wont have happened. they have 5 teams and the best players from the each zones so there is good competetion.

The standard of the teams in the Duleep Trophy is high, maybe competing with Australian domestic cricket, it is a shame that it is a short contest, secondary to the Ranji Trophy, when, in my opinion, it should be the premier FC competition in India with perhaps two overseas teams playing instead of one.

Just look at the squads from last year...

South Zone
West Zone
East Zone
Central Zone
The victorious North Zone

That is the sort of standard India should have in their domestic cricket.

Have to say that only good can come from this. As manee says, its a great standard (judging from the squads) and will be bloody hard cricket.

Maybe indian should have this as their top competition, it can only help their game in the long term.
