Hair voted 'umpire of the season'

Thursday Nov 16 07:19 AEDT
Sacked ICC umpire Darrell Hair has been voted umpire of the season by readers of The Wisden Cricketer magazine.
Hair received more than a third of all votes in the magazine's annual poll, a decision which appears to contradict the views of his employers at the ICC, who admit to having lost confidence in him.
One reader referred to him as the only one with courage and Hair also received votes in the performance of the season category with citations such as ensuring the umpires decision is final and finally exposing the cheats.
"I suppose it is a bit of a shock," Hair told the magazine.

Well take that you silly Pakistanis. Once again the ICC has been rapped by the sub continent, we lose one of the best umpires and have to put up with ******** decisions from Bucknor and Bowden.

Re: Hair voted Umpire of the year

Wow! So Hair has been voted best umpire by the readers of Wisden Cricket Magazine. Tells us more about the readership of the mag than anything else. The ICC voted Simon Taufel Umpire of the year, followed by Rudi K and Aleem Dar. All excellent choices. Sadly Darrell has gone over the top once too often and paid the price.

It wouldn't make a difference, we only get neutral umpires every test so we wouldnt get Hair at anytime. It is a shame this is the case as we miss out on the best umpire Taufel.

It is sad the power of the sub-continent over the ICC.

There are four cricket countries on the sub continent. There are 10 test playing nations, so the sub-continent nations are in a minority. What you mean is that it's a shame Australia and England no longer run the show on their own.

Re: Hair voted Umpire of the year

Australia/New Zealand were set to finally get a World Cup in 2011 I think it was, yet the ICC picked another sub continent nation, what complete bullcrap, bias.

It's not another subcontinental nation, it's all four of them. They're each hosting some games.

I believe the current arrangement is as follows:
6 matches in Bangladesh, plus the opening ceremony
9 matches in Sri Lanka, including a semi-final
16 matches in Pakistan, including a semi-final
22 matches in India, includiing the final

Re: Hair voted Umpire of the year

Surely it was Australia and New Zealand's turn, its complete rubbish.
