My Spin Bowling Video

Hello my name is Shane and i am a Left Arm wrist spinner i would love to improve my bowling. So i finally got around to make a video of myself bowling. I would really appeciate any information that you think will help my bowling. Sorry if the quality is not that great as i had to you my phone to take the videos. I had a video of me side-on but it did not come out correctly so i will do it again tomorrow.

Hi Shane!

The biggest thing that stand out is that you appear to be a little round arm in your action. Try to get that bowling arm a little straighter and higher - it will help you to maximise bounce, spin and dip.

I was going to say it was abit of a chuck, but if you slow the footage your arm remains completely straight throughout delivery. Very interesting method of getting the ball down there. Do you play for a team at all ? Had much success ?

Thanks for the post. I have noticed that my arm does need to higher. I do play for a team and I ended the season with the most wickets for my team. I beat a lot of batsmen with flight and change of pace i just need more turn.

Totally agree about the follow through. Get yourself one of those and then you're in business.

Your slightly round arm, but evn the great Shane Warne wandered round arm at times and he had success.

The benifits of a higher point of delivery, is the the ball is going to dip better, and hopefully "fizz".

Leg spin bowling is similar to the shot put, its like you're pushing the ball up, and it looks a little like you're pulling it down. Do you tend to bowl slightly short? As i suspect you would with your action.

Actually i do not bowl short very often only when I try to bowl googlies which i am currently having troubles with. I am actually pretty accurate i just need to work on getting my arm higher and getting more turn.

The higher your arm, the more rotation in the air the ball with generate and hopefully spin more. If it doesnt, then its a job of repositioning yourself, or your wrist to allow for more spin.

ok I will try to do so by the way i have ordered the Art of Wrist Spin Bowling and should be getting it next week sometime . Do you think that reading it will help improve my bowling?

Totally agreed. You can read it, but as long as you don't apply the advice in there to your own bowling, it wouldn't have much of an effect.
