Super Eights - Ireland vs New Zealand

Next game of the Super Eights is underway with Ireland taking on New Zealand in Guyana.

New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first.

They've started sedately. The first over from Langford-Smith was a maiden.

Ireland XI: JP Bray, WTS Porterfield, EJG Morgan, NJ O'Brien+, AR White, PG Gillespie, KJ O'Brien, DT Johnston*, WK McCallan, D Langford-Smith, WB Rankin

New Zealand XI: PG Fulton, SP Fleming*, HJH Marshall, SB Styris, CD McMillan, JDP Oram, BB McCullum+, DL Vettori, JEC Franklin, SE Bond, JS Patel

Re: Super Eights - Ireland vs New Zealand

Ireland are doing well to restrict New Zealand's scoring rate here.

The Kiwis are 3/102 in the 22nd over. Fulton is still there on 48 and McMillan is on 11. Styris was the last man out for 10.

Dave Langford-Smith has finished his allotted overs, taking 2/41 off his 10.

Re: Super Eights - Ireland vs New Zealand

McMillan out for 22

118-4 after 24.4

The Irish are doing a decent job of keeping the Kiwis within reach so far.

Re: Super Eights - Ireland vs New Zealand

172-4 after 38

Ireland is keeping them in check, but not taking any more wickets.
Looks like New Zealand will probably reach a total that will be just a little too high for the Irish to chase.

Re: Super Eights - Ireland vs New Zealand

The rain has interrupted a few times, and it seems to have thrown off the Kiwis a little bit.

Oram is the latest to fall

181-6 after 40.4 overs

Still heading for a resonable total, and probably out of Ireland's reach, but yet again, a good showing by the Irish bowlers to keep the scoreline respectable. This certainly won't be a 300-run blowout.

Re: Super Eights - Ireland vs New Zealand

Another wicket falls.

Looks like New Zealand is taking today's match seriously. They're not going to let Ireland have even a sniff.

Re: Super Eights - Ireland vs New Zealand

didn't quite work for Ireland

all out for 134

Dan 'the man' Vettori taking 4 wickets.

it'll be a Australia - New Zealand final at this rate, the only other team to get close will be Sri Lanka

...and we've still got about 40 matches to be played in this tournament :p
