IPL has come a big way in promoting the game of cricket or rather the 'instant cricket' in a very big way.

Many youngsters who would like to show-case their talents have welcomed this and have made most of the opportunity available to them.

However, it is necessary to take a careful look at the format of this 'limited-overs' game and see how far does to go to do justice to the young players to don the national colors and play at the highest level...viz the test match....

Amongst all the sports, the game of cricket is (sorry was) considered to the 'Gentlemen's Game.

However, with the advent of time the game seems to be losing its 'gentle'ness, courtsey a few players who are hell bent on bringing in 'disciplined indiscipline'.

The so-called 'mind games', on-field spats, sledging, swearing, physical contact, slapping and the conduct of a few players are squarely responsible for this.

New innovations in the way the game of cricket continues to be made.

Not very long ago we witnessed the 'sweep shot' played by Kevin Peiterson during the recently concluded Indis England series. To do this Peitersen had to change his stance from a right-handed batsman to a left-handed batsmen so that the 'face' of the bat can be used to strike the ball.

Now let us imagine what if the bat had 'two faces'.

When was the last time we saw the Windies with their full arsenal in all deparments of the game.Yes i know its difficult to recollect but thats the state of the West Indies team now.

Sometimes i wonder is this the team which won the first World Cup with the lights of some great cricketers like Viv Richards,Desmond Haynes,Sir Garfield Sobers and many more who gave their blood and sweat to make this country proud.
