Go the rams, the 2nds have a tough assignment ahead of them though but hopefully the firsts can finish Carlton off and win outright

Well done to the Rams on back to back premierships. The Cricket Victoria Awards night is on Tuesday Night at Crown Palladium. Here is the article from the Premier Cricket Website:

Rams go back-to-back

Ringwood today won the VB Premier Final with a seven-wicket outright win over Carlton at Melbourne University. It was the first outright win in a Final since St Kilda defeated Essendon at the Albert Ground eight years ago.

Carlton resumed this morning on 4/80, but when Nathan Pilon was out to the second ball of the day and Tim Welsford followed in the next over, the match looked to be heading towards a finish by lunch. But Tim Ludeman (51) and Andrew Dickinson (54) combined for a 91-run seventh wicket stand, which saw the Blues through to 206, an overall lead of 101.

The early run out of Daniel King sent some tremors through Ringwood. David King (26) and Tom Stray (21no) looked untroubled until a second run out, David King backing up couldn't beat an Evan Gulbis deflection from short mid-off and it was 2/40. Sean Flynn (35) took the total to 84 before Nick Austin trapped him lbw, but there to be no fairy-tale finishes for the Blues as Stray and Brendan Walsh (17no) saw the Rams safely home.

It was Ringwood's second successive premiership after the breakthrough first win over the Cats last year. The Rams' Steve Gilmour was adjudged the John Scholes Medallist for his six wickets for the match, taking him to 46 wickets for the season - the most in the competition.

Rumour has that some Premier clubs are attempting to get rid of the 4th XI competition, and also the 3rd XI. I know this issue has com up before, but with the drought and rising costs involved with curating a turf wicket, a couple of clubs are keen on the idea.

Is there a high chance of it happening? Or are they only in discussions?

they are looking at better ways of developing young players, like an under age grade or something! not sure how far in the development of this they are though! some clubs have 5ths in local comps and it works well

Righto - movements for next year. Matthew Wade to Casey, Clint Hillas captain/coach of North, Rummans back at StKilda, everyone leaving Hawthorn, Damiano playing subbies, new captain and coach required at Melbourne Uni.

Anyone with any other moves?

Have heard around the traps that Peter Manser might be going to Northcote. Lloyd Mash might be headed to Tasmania and if that falls through, may be leaving the lions to go to the dragons!!!

Shaun dean could be going to play with his brother at footscray and mcphee from geelong is looking at footscray aswell..

Osborne and gale could be co-captains at the rams.

Big possibility that this could be the last year of the roos in the competition. Clint hillas to be captain coach justifies this and with no Mcdonald, they could be in strife. Might be a merger with another struggling district club or maybe even a subbie club next season. Do they have a ground to play at this season??
