Yes players are leaving and more to come at seasons end.
Great to see the cricket back on. Muckleford have put themselves in a great position agt the Goats.
Creek should be able to run through Castlemaine and start their downhill slide.
Newstead should win easily agt Kyneton.
And Nth have the weekend off after an amazing result in one day.

i here there was a dec. by the captain even tho he was in the 80s. good to see a captain put himself before the team, unlike what aldridge did when he had the same choice against the berries. i hope that doesn't come back to bite him!!! i think i wrote the dirty redhats off to early. who has been performing well for them?? coz at the start of the year, i didn't think they would be much.

Re: Castlemaine and District Cricket Association
Yeah he declared on 88*. And yep, you are right. Exactly the opposite to the game before where Aldridge stuffed it up going for his 100.

I think you meant that he put his team before himself...
Looking through the stats Matt Giri has been a very good contributor with bat and ball. He has been supported by different players in different games.
Jamie Allan looks like he is coming into form at the right time of the year and there are some players to come back from injuries.
Also Andrew Hewitt's presence at the weekend gave the club a massive boost by taking 11 wickets.
It also appears the club has taken on a youth policy and is playing a lot of young players. Jenkins, Filo, Cross, McLean are all teenagers.

i did mean he put the team b4 himself. do u think castlemaine have the minerals to win it, or will they fall away? will the kids stand up in the finals for the redhats? and if they don't who is waiting in the wings to step up?

You would have to say that Castlemaine are in a brilliant position to get a home semi and thats got to be a major advantage.
I am sure the Redhats will be happy to just play finals cricket from where they were last year.
Barkers Creek are a team that will be tough to beat. It is open for a few teams but Castlemaine are certainly the favourites with the position they sit in at the moment.

Re: Castlemaine and District Cricket Association
gday fellas pleasure to join in,
looking over the general chit chat that has occurred in here i noticed that country week has stirred up a few emotions. having a look at a few teams that have been posted, i was appauled at the sight of a few names that came up to represent the league. names like mckimmie, watson, sobey, milsom etc horrified me to think people see these guys as the leading cricketers in the league. lets be serious here, has the cdca been religated to div 4 for these guys to be picked?
i find it a little humourous that every year it seems to be the same old faces popping up in the squad regardless of the performances during the year. Shall we rename our country week team to the 'redhats'? they havent looked anything like the team they were when flip oliver was leading them but the majority of there team gets a go in our 'rep' team. what a joke.
Any thoughts?

welcome to the party gladstone! yes i agree a few names being 'thrown' around are laughable! sobey is nothing but a slapper, and milsom has taken a 'massive' 4 wickets this year. i think he would be about the 7th bowler in line from the redhats to get a run in country week.

Redhats are currently sitting second on the ladder Gladstone and playing very well so I am not sure how you could say that they are not as good as side as when Flip was leading them.
Lenny Watson is second on the leading wicket taking list so has earned his spot. Milsom fractured his arm in Round 4 and was the leading wicket taker in last years Country Week competition. Sobey is built for one day which Country Week is.
Some players muct be picked due to their great experience and ability to step up at the next level and the three above have done that and will continue to do it.
Why dont you stick your neck out if you have one Gladstone and select your best squad.

firstly a quick thanks to the hoff for his welcome. secondly outswinger, you have challenged me to select a squad for country week. glancing over your rabble, there would be 7 blokes who wouldnt even be considered in my team. let me run through them, sobey, built for one day cricket? get your hand off it! lach ford has been pre occupied to worry about cricket, allan hasnt looked like making a run this year, brindley is struggling in the worst team to take the field in any form of cricket, "chalky bones" milsom must still be livin off last years country week cause he hasnt troubled the worst of batsmen in the league with a pathetic 4 wkts, rhys ford cant catch the ball, and christmas wouldnt know which end of the bat hes holding.
unlike you outswinger i think rep teams should be picked on form and not reputation, like any sport should be. but maybe you think otherwise coz your getting a free ride in your team? correct?
Any thoughts ladies and gents?
