Default Haddin - do you rate him as a keeper?

Hey all, just after your thoughts on Haddin, I personally think while he is good with the bat his keeping and decision making skills are well below par.

Ronchi is a better keeper by miles and swings the bat a bit like much like Gilly.

I say out with Haddin and in with Ronchi.

Your thoughts?

Not on the form Ronchi is in ATM.

I also think that Haddin's batting is very useful for the aussies.

You don't get much more incosistent than Luke Ronchi so he probably should only play T20's for Australia.

Keep with Haddin for at least SA & England tours.

Haddin's glovework is decent. Good enough for the Aussie team. I think as a keeper it is important to be a good batsman. Any runs he gives away he can make back with the bat. He is an important keeper for us, keep him in.

Actually rating his wicketkeeping skills... they aren't as bad as what others think. His decision making might be a little bit dodgy, and his keeping suffers from it a bit but his batting makes him the best choice in Australia, by far.

Haddin's keeping was poor when he first arrived on the Test scene. However, he is actually a very good gloveman usually, and he showed signs in the last two series that he was getting back towards his best. I would say it was very much a confidence issue, as his glovework has always been one of his genuine strengths.

As for his batting, after that breakthrough 160 odd, he is now strutting around the crease and looking like a genuinely terrific batsman. He's hitting it off the middle, he's willing to play square of the pitch when necessary (something he was reluctant to do in his first few innings, leading to him being tied down and resorting to stupid shots), while still utilising his primary batting strength, straight down the pitch, to get most of his runs.

He's no Gilly, but he's the best keeper in the country. He just took a few Tests to get going is all.

Haddin is copping alot of bad critisism because of how much gilly was loved and this is keeping alot of people from actualy watching him play
if they did they would appreciate what a good player he is with the gloves and also the bat
he is a great addition to the team and hopefully people stop comparing him to gilchrist who was a great keeper but haddin is also a great player and has only just came onto the test scene wait a little while and you'll wish he never retires

That post had some certain qualities about it, can't quite put my finger on it yet. Might have to listen to the radio a bit more.

I think to say he is a very bad keeper is a bit harsh.

Sure he has some problems with the gloves at times but I think it is a bit harsh to say he is a very bad keeper.
