2014/2015 Barclay Shield

I took the kids down to the Adventure playground on the weekend and spotted a fresh NEW recruit mucking around on the monkey bars, he was playing with a small person (who didn't look out of place on an Adventure Playground) and who's nickname is something you would need if your stuck up s*** creek. "we are gonna like our new home" were some of the cries I heard. Any movement on this CricketBox?

Ex Prez, have you chased after Mitch because your spinner Ryan Eley, who had a pretty good year for you guys (18 wickets @18), has flown the coup and has chased some dollars down at North Eltham?
Quinny as I do all of the recruitment this comes as a surprise and can honestly say I had never spoken a word nor met the bloke but thanks for the mention.will now make contact with the kid

Only repeating what a senior North Eltham player had told me the club were doing/had done.

Let me know if you need his number ;)

Just post it here for everyone to see, he won't mind. Riverside don't have a spinner of worth, surely they have some more dollars laying around.

Sorry for late response, but this is laughable...
The young lad has been instrumental in helping us recruit players this year so not sure he would then up and leave...
The added interest you have created might have added a few 00's to his contract at the Bullring though...:p

I say don't change anything and sort out who's really serious about their cricket.

Strong possibility we will play round one Sunday 4th... after the AFL GF. From those at the dvca I have spoken to, this is almost set in stone...

Without this first week, we only have 11 saturdays to 19th Dec. We would need to play a Sunday in there somewhere to catch it up... or play an extra one day game... but dont think an extra OD game would be great in the year of the restructure...
There are only 8 saturdays after the break, leading into the semi ( first week march - not the long weekend) with the GF played on the long weekend of 12-13 March and the BS, MS, B finals concluding the next week 19th (Easter is the next week)

Weird season potentially with a late start and early finish... A few precious players might have to give up a Sunday or 2, or potentially like the old days...Cup day...?

Got nothing to do with either club so not sure.

Care to elaborate?

I cannot comment on the kids' credentials as far as football goes, but in terms of Cricket you guys being a little unfair I think.
His resume says a number of clubs, but if you look, it appears most were junior clubs - playing in addition to the DVCA comp.
Had stints at Camrea (u15), Rivergum (u17) & Millpark (u17) - comps the DVCA didnt have available to play in at the time.

Senior cricket, from what I can see, he has only ever played at 2 clubs. Whittlesea and one year at Epping to try Barclay Shield. The reason he has come to us this year.
Has certianly not come for $$ or if he has, he will earn it like the rest.
I am not making any assumptions about his character. I do not know the kid apart from a conversation we have had about cricket.
So far to us he has presented well, and is keen to play at the highest level.
We see him as another young cricketer with some talent, who will hopefully help improve our onfield performances.

is there a 2nd whittlesea player heading to bundy? maybe known for his temper???

No need to try and deflect attention.

Any truth to a certain N. Gardiner verbally committing to play up at Bundoora United, to then get lost on the way to the ground to sign contracts, ended up at the wrong Bundoora, and thought screw it, ill sign here. To be honest, you've dodged a bullet.

And Bundoora are building a pretty handy B grade side.

Eh, I just wonder if a certain wicket-keeper batsman from a club out West has signed on the dotted line yet. That's probably the biggest hole to fill.
