Challenger to the Duckworth Lewis Method and the Jayadevan Method

I remain to be convinced, I'm afraid. Not sure how you can factor in the pace of the fall of wickets. The D/L resources remaining basis seems most reliable to me.

    Muralitharan retires from international cricket

Think he might becoming back. I'd prefer the rules to be that anyone with a questionable action has to play a Test and an ODI while having his action examined through electronic modling etc. No point in lab testing as they simply bowl legally.

How we go from here... The Match Fixing Debacle

Is T20 really more prone to spot-fixing? This summer's scandal was all about Tests... The impact T20 has on match fixing is that it makes some players very rich, while leaving some very poor. Pakistani players are unable to play in the IPL and get taste of that money and there's no doubt that's...

Resting players - does it work?

Just found out from this ashes cricket odds blog that the Aussie are resting three key players from the ODIs against India. As it points out, they're ducking three days' work in a period of just over a week, so does it make much difference? I note when England players were left out over the...

    The best sledges.... ever?

Anyone who likes a good sledge should check out this Ashes tips blog. It's got 20 of the best. In a way, it's a shame the stump mic has taken this out the game. Some of them are pretty witty.

Challenger to the Duckworth Lewis Method and the Jayadevan Method

I don't think the D/L method gives a low target. It seems spot on to me. It's actually a higher run rate than Somerset had achieved. Can you explain why you think it's too low?

I'm on my way down at 30: Pietersen

I think he's got other things on his mind apart from cricket now. His family especially. When he says he's on his way down, I think he means he's losing his appitite for the game.

Re: why is it when aussies take a low catch its referred and.... Personally, I don't think there's much point in refering low catches. It's always really hard to tell if someone got their fingers under it. However, as this cricket tips blog points out there is a need to ensure all referal rules...

    panic running

Re: panic running I'd say listen to your instincts. If you're about to set off and the voice inside your head tells you it's a panic run, then just stay put. Also, if you find you're hitting the ball to the fielders all the time, working on your batting should help avoid run outs. If you learn...

    Sidearm

Re: Sidearm That's really clever. Basically a modified version of one of these. Remarkable to see how well they work though. Lots of variety and movement. Should save a lot of people's arms and joints...

Have the Aussies lost that winning feeling?

Have the Aussies lost that winning feeling? According to this Ashes cricket betting blog they have. If you ask me, they're not the team they were just a few years ago, but Australia at home is still a massive ask. Hope the England players aren't buying into all this talk. Don't want to...

Swann not player of the year...

Swann not player of the year... Well, the ICC have decided not to make Swanny the player of the year (full story here). To be honest, it's hard to see how it could have been anyone but Tendulkar given the season he's had though.

    Australia tour of India 2010

Re: Australia tour of India 2010 I think the dispute is more wide ranging than that and is about how much the ICC and TV companies pay towards the technology. Not sure though.

    The Ryder Cup

The Ryder Cup Any golf fans around here? How amazing was the end to the Ryder Cup? I'll link to a report on the last day's play when it goes up, though you can read the BBC's MBM commentary here. Has their ever been a more exciting Ryder Cup.

    Australia tour of India 2010

Re: Australia tour of India 2010 I think India should just about edge it on home soil. And as this cricket betting blog rightly points out, the mighty Harnhjan may be the man that makes the difference. He's certainly changed the face of Indian cricket in recent years.

Rain rule method in Indian Domestic Circuit

Re: Rain rule method in Indian Domestic Circuit I didn't realise there were other methods. I thought D/L was king. Is the Jayadevan method any better?
