    Dvca - Competition Restructure

Strong rumour.... a couple of clubs in trouble as far as their future in DVCA goes...???? If hypothetically the 2 clubs were to go... how then does the new structure work... 10, 10 & 6...? Absolute farce... Will the DVCA go seeking new clubs to join or will they re-think the structure...

Yes correct, that last part is important... we signed a player this year who also plays in a Sunday comp elsewhere... As per DVCA, they have a shortage of grounds, so scheduled some Saturday fixtures... This created some angst with the DVCA executive who would not clear him at first. We had...

Dvca - How Do We Make It Better?

Is it time for the DVCA to bite the bullet and appoint a full time administrator...? We currently pay token salaries to the Exec 'volunteers' of around $40,000 a season (???) That covers Sean Winstone (admin), Mash ( Juniors), Bowden ( fixtures - gone), and not sure of the rest but i might...

A big problem for clubs is the Mycricket system. It totally relies on the honestly of the player. It is particulary difficult for players from the sub-continent, who sometimes go by several different names.... Had one player in our 3rds 2-3 years ago whom we registered as a new player... hadnt...

Pretty spot on.. from my knowledge... except i think in the DVCA, permit applications cease from Dec 31... unless a junior player playing 3rd or 4ths... but not 100% on that... Players can play juniors in one comp and seniors elsewhere or they can play in another Sunday comp... they cannot...

Sad situation for a lots of clubs this last week. Happier times for others... OPSF would be ecstatic... Riverside less so I imagine... DVCA have followed the rules of ineligible player.... cant argue that and the penalties imposed. From what I hear B.U denied any wrong doing when asked the...

Rounds 1 & 2 - have a yellow dot against them in the fixure in Mycricket.. which means results either disputed or not confirmed... games dont count until completed. Perhaps match results have not been confirmed by one of the clubs ( v Whittlesea & Hurstbridge)???

Warrawee is more than suitable for lower grades, even with the tree.. it is bigger than half the grounds we play on now. (incl Research Park & Loyola - not bagging the grounds just comparing size) It is the councils who will not let clubs from other councils ( say Creek vs NEW) play on that...

Apparently it is due to a shortage of grounds in the Nillumbik area. Issue is only going to get worse as that is the growth area. Clubs like Diamond Creek, NEW, Research etc who all having growing junior numbers, and therefore growing senior teams are causing the issues... (not bagging those...

Disgraceful proposal... How they (DVCA) can justify moving to 10 teams with the proposed format is beyond comprehension. Supposed to be our Premier grade - and yet we will have a compromised drawing have to play 3 teams twice next year. I understand the DVCA will try to grade the draw so teams...

Bundoora - Yulong Reserve - Saturday - 10/93 v 8/90 - make of that what you will... Sunday played Vets there myself. Found the pitch played very slow, ball held up in the pitch a little, had to wait for the ball to come on. Bounce was noticably lower though, less tennis ball bounce and more...

    2014/2015 Barclay Shield

Yes agree for Barclay Shield - either leave as 12 teams or go all the way down to 8. 10 just doesnt work. The argument against 8 teams and playing 21 days was that no one wanted to play on sundays....then wtf... all grades are playing a sunday game this year anyway... no consistency in the...

So if CT pull out and PV are in by default, that leaves only 26 teams. They should pull the pin on the proposed re-structure now and leave BS as 12 teams with MS & 3rd Shield as 8 teams... The proposed structure and fixture of the new BS as 10 teams is a disgrace. Having to play some teams twice!!
