One day cricket is fine for those who want to play it.
However, the current One Day comp, at the moment doesnt suit everyone as there are some very good quality cricketers running around in that comp now.
There currently is no restriction on who can play.
So for example a Salvatore or...
Pretty sure Saturday cricket for juniors is done and dusted as of this year. (tbc)
Now clubs will need to watch out for the ever expanding junior soccer clubs (now a summer sport) who will request use of the now vacant grounds on saturday mornings...
We need to be very careful here... or some...
Great idea of the twilight fixture --totally F...s us though as we already have a private functions and a club one booked on those dates which cannot be amended.
Going to have to kick people out of the rooms prior to stumps on day 1 :-(
Day 2 if we are true to form will be done by about 5 anyway...
The NMCA has had an 8 team comp, playing 7 one day & 2 day games for a number of years now.
Most who you speak to say it works really well.
Makes the season more even as some of the lesser teams can win some one day games which keeps them in the hunt longer.
Only 8 teams would also make the 1st...
Just putting it out there... which clubs could we see join the DVCA in the near future...?
Remembering for clubs to be eligible to join DVCA must reside within the 3 council zones, unless we change our comp rules...
Only some of the HDCA clubs that didnt join could have the option of coming...
Tongs 3 x 9 ...? Assume taking the piss otherwise you would have a bye each round...
Reckon it has to be to even out the comp to try to avoid 1st XI teams playing 2nds.
Not much fun playing B grade against these teams. Ok, they are not super teams and dont dominate the competiion with...
If clubs put the structure change in as a rule change proposal, then wont they look at it... ?
If enough push for the 8 team comp then they might listen...?
The issue then becomes the same as we have now - with 4 clubs 1sts (not counting PVB) outside the shield comps... so do we go with 4...
What are the thoughts around season 2015-16 playing dates...? With the world cup on, in March 2015, I understand AFL will start later and finish week 1 or week 2 of October...
Do we wait until mid Ocotber to start...?
Maybe a good year to revert to new comp structure above. Then we dont really...
Clubs success generally goes in cycles.
At least this way, all clubs have 2 years to get their houses in order.
So if clubs feel they are in a risky period of no success, then they have a chance to recruit etc.. or choose not to...
If they just implemented now, then the 3 clubs who go down...
I assume then Eltham's ground has improved dramatically since we played there just prior to the break. Was ordinary then...
Otherwise a logical decision on ground venues. But if I were Creek and United, still wouldnt be happy about it either.
I understand HB might be one of the better grounds...
Unfortunately Bundoora D grade last week.
In a match with finals hopes on the line, Bundoora were 0/3 then 5/3 at one stage... then 6/14. Ended up making 57.... :-(
Malone having a great year. 442 runs in 9 hits. 27 wickets for 407.
Still a long way shy of Terry Keays at Bundoora in 01/02.
61 wickets 11.4, 466 runs at 47. & Premiers.
Like most, was filthy with the early call yesterday when it was only 27 deg.
However the powers got it right. Would not have played for an hour....

Speaking with the local council, when (or if) the decision to revert to old style pitches is made, then I am told that the pitches will be replaced on an 'as needs' basis. Not as a bulk hit.
So the example of Panton Hill- likely to have the all weather wicket another 5 years.... Others, eg...
Agreed, absolute shite.
Our D grade had a ball 2 weeks ago - on a relatively new all weather wicket - where the seam lifted and tore ( almost perforated) along the stitching for about 2cm in the 9-10th over.
In the 13th over the ball nearly split in 2, with a 6-8cm complete split opening up...
