Agreed not a bad idea. But played under the standard comp rules of 40 over per side. Not the mickey mouse rules of the ODC. Games played count for qualifications.
So my thoughts that grades BS, MS, B, C grades - play 80 over cricket. ( so basically everones 1's & 2's)
D & below - All play one...
I am not quite sure why bundoora keep getting mentioned in your posts...?
The decision not to bring Dinesh back this year was a tough one. But a decision based on team balance at the time. Absolutely nothing to do with being an import - or a decision to go away from imports.
Fact - Last year...
Mr Not Out - i understand your frustration but I am not sure if you know that fixtures are done by one volunteer. He cannot create fixtures until all teams are finalised on Sunday night.
Creating fixtures for A - D grades is difficult enough as it is - even given most matches are on the clubs...
Can anyone confirm the wet weather rule - can you start play if it is raining?
I have always believed that you can start in the rain (if deemed safe - thats safe not fair), but once you come off for rain, then you cannot return to play until rain has ceased.
I know of 2 matches on the...
Yes their batting tailed away very quickly after first 5-6. Also rumours were their best bat Crowe, has also flown the coup...? Anyone confirm...? Their bowling will keep them in most games if they can actually make 150.
Tongs, played HB in the B grade GF last year. They were clearly the best in B grade all last year, just had a bad 2 hrs with the bat ( twice :D) in the Grannie.
Their bowling is as good as anyone, and they have picked a few more imports with Sammy etc... their batting depth is the worry.
Will...
So the DVCA Exec have decided to run the Vets with 3 divisions of 10, so nine games and no semi finals.
So only top 2 get to play finals out of 10 teams. That means likey going to be 6-8 teams out of contention half way thru... perhaps leading to more forfeits...? Shit move for the comp...
Think you might find Rosebank approached Camrea as a ticket to gain entry into DVCA, now that they jumped ship to HDCA then the comp folded. not sure they wanted to go back to NMCA...?
The rule is a complete croc...
Match day bowlers are restrcited to 30 ball spells, yet can bowl at training unlimited - maybe over 100 balls...
Then if they train with seniors, bowl some more, when they finish playing a match, what do they do... go over to the nets and play for hours on end...
I am not up to speed on all of the facts with Mill Park. But from what i have heard, they have had several financial sanctions imposed on them in the past, yet their behaviour hasnt improved.
So if they keep paying the fines and not improving - where do you go? You have to make a stand sometime...
Tongs - we have never said we wont go up... Given the current changes to the MS comp, all we have said to the DVCA exec is that if you need us to stay out to help with the comp structure, then we are happy to do so.
As Bundoora said, if they go to a 16 team comp, rather than 14, then we will...
You are a dead set flog. It is only the 2nd time in 10 years that our B grade have played finals!! So not sure about the big fish remark...??
Yes Rosco had a great year but took 38 wickets in the last 6 games incl the finals. Would no doubt have played A grade at most other Barclay clubs. Very...
Agreed, promotion relegation should only be BS / MS. The reserve grades reintroduced. (ie B & C become BSR & MSR again)
All grades B (C) grade and below are graded accordingy to club requests and DVCA exec final ruling - as was the case for 20 years prior!!
Now looking at the rule book, I...
Ha ha go for it.
As Tongs said, people leave for various reasons - mine was lack of opportunity. An an 'immature' 18yo, I was stuck playing in grades - even below you. I left to better myself. Within 2 years was playing A grade cricket.
After 4 years, I came back to the best club in the land...
I think Jesensek did this many years ago. Please correct me if I am wrong but i think he played with Damien Martyn in the Oz u19 only to play at Camrea (?) the next year or so... ?
Smashed us all over the park for 140 odd.
( i did get him out eventually though...)
Yes all unofficially confirmed and Viewbank as well. This would mean 5 new teams incl Rosanna for next year. (so far...)
So referring to my earlier post where we have 10 teams in MS at present, another 5 makes 15. Makes it difficult to arrange a single comp in MS with 15. Will need either 1...
Heard nothing official.
Rumoured that Heid are meeting DVCA next Wed to discuss, have also heard that the other 2 clubs mentioned are applying, but have heard nothing official from DVCA.
Bund Park - technically do not fit the mould - from Darebin council - although geographically not an issue...
I am not sure why the discussion about 3 divisions.
Currently 12 teams in MS. Riverside out (relegated and want out), Mill Park banished to C grade, Bundoora ( B grade premier) happy to stay in B, leaves 10 teams.
Add in the rumoured 4 teams - Rosanna, Heidelberg, Banyule & 1 yet to be...
Exactly. If each of the 1,2,3 or 4 or more clubs come across and they each have between 3-5 senior teams then the reshuffle down the grades will impact many.
In theory - assume it is 4 clubs as rumoured, then 4 to come out of MS (?), (Riv & MP are 2) pushes four down to B grade, which in...
