Bit harsh on Lalors ground - played there twice after Christmas this year ( in 2 separate grades) and whilst far from ideal, certianly not the worst.
Agree several years ago during the drought it was ordinary - but so to was our ground and many others...
Have to agree though, the district...
I thought the DVCA rules meant you had to have juniors to play either BS or MS or join as new member of DVCA full stop?
History shows that you can get one years grace ( ie Bund United / Lower Plenty...) however plans must be in place to continue.
However these 2 clubs were already established...
Unfortunatley no easy solution. Only a lot of hard work and you need to have people willing to put in the hours to do it.
Need firstly to find people in the club willing to give up their time to work for the club.
Need to hit the schools hard - try to run clinics etc... get info into...
I havent seen too many players drift from club to club - or more specifically from smaller club to bigger. The bigger clubs, from where I see it, are bigger due to the demographics and the number of kids coming thru. Not necessarily thru poaching senior players, but more growing from within.
Not sure it will hit the DVCA as a whole. We cover a fairly wide demographic area.. We have struggling areas at present like GB, macleod, Thomastown etc... yet thriving areas like Epping, Sth morang, Whittlesea, Eltham, Diamond Creeks etc.
Some clubs will struggle, some like Wattleglen have...
Guys, really think you are all missing the point. Clubs like Macleod & greensborough are not necessarily dropping off because of poor club or comp management but more due to the current demographics of the area.
The same can also be said for the HDCA in general. The heidleberg area is fairly old...
Really doesnt worry me. So no sour grapes if that is their intention.
Would prefer we stay the same actually. Just working on the theories if it did happen.
fact remains though, if two of the big 3 come across, then the comp is gonna struggle to remain viable.
How about a trade - we get...
I hate Sat/Sun - regardless of whether in November or March. Too old for that stuff. cant move on Sundays :(
But if we wish to kill the Sat/Sun semi, then we will need to give up a day elsewhere.
best your source speaks to Banyule & maybe heidelberg.... Lots of smoke coming from those directions. Although i do know heidelberg have categorically denied those rumours previously.
Apparently if Rosanna go, then one more big club might follow, then will only leave what 6 clubs in the comp...
Many years ago... I am sure they had the rule where a team could not declare in the last half hour / 20 mins of the day...
Re-instate that AND the 3 over chnageover rule, and most of this issue goes away...
Yes sometimes teams will have to bat an over or 3, but so to do test teams...just one of...
Tongs, firstly, didnt say we wouldnt go up, ( not my decision anymore as the title says - Ex prez), however as we have seen this year, Riverside 2's - dominant the year before in B grade - were blatantly non competive. The MS comp as Eltham found out first hand this year, is a little stronger...
As I understand it, the clubs have to vote on it- as we have always done.
There is usually a special meeting (or is this pre AGM?) where the applying club/s make a submission to the clubs. We then vote to let them in or not.
So whether it is one club ( Rosanna ?) or more ( heard heidelberg &...
Cuzz, I wrote this earlier in the C grade & below forum and got howled upon, so i will try here.
The issue is we scheduled a comp designed (and i thought voted on) to play every second week to play 16 out of 20 weeks.
Allow for the fact we started a week late, finished a week prior to Xmas...
