    SECA - 20/21 SEASON

I agree Winki Pop that changes have definitely been forced upon SECA and the cricket community and I am not denying that. What I am saying, is that this is the opportunity for SECA to make some creative and sustainable long-term changes that are reflective of a changing society. For a long time...

    SECA - 20/21 SEASON

There will be some very turbulent times ahead for some clubs as we approach the new season. The survival of many clubs will be undoubtedly be brought into question. The SECA administration must make changes to their competition with a focus on player participation and retention. Two day cricket...

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

They're an interesting case study, aren't they Clocker? These type of performances have been ingrained in the club's culture for a number of seasons. My take on it though, is slightly different. This is a club who is by and large made up of C and D grade cricketers and I mean that with the...

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

So after a three week hiatus, the SECA competition resumes on Saturday and it brings with it some tantalizing matches that will shape the final four and indeed, the 2019/20 season. East Sandringham and Le Page go head to head this weekend in what I believe will be a closely fought contest...

The Woolnough shield debate is again an interesting one. I would argue that the strength of that competition has definitely improved the standard of the top grade. Take last season for example, all four finalists were Woolnough Shield premiers. Ultimately, the grand final was contested between...

, I wouldn't actually say they had success, made 1 GF and got absolutely pantsed. Made another semi I think but generally have been middle to lower end of the scale. Woolnough a feeder comp is also a bit overatted as there would be no improvement to Longy with any of the top wooly teams at the...

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

The short answer is, 'not a lot'. The longer one is far more complicated and strikes at the club's inherent cultural problems. This season was always going to be one that challenged the playing group and has revelaed some very real and very deep problems. I don't expect them to win a game this...

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

As it stands right now, I'm happy to put a line through the Sharks. 33 points was the mark required last season to qualify for the top 4 and that feels about right this year. Even if they win this weekend, they'll need everyting to go right and win every game post Christmas and after watching...

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

Once branded the "leicester city" of the SECA, the sharks season is in utter disarray. Bowled out yet again for a score under 200, they are in freefall and find themselves in dangerous territory, firmly and quite rightfully entrenched in the relegation zone. At 1 and 3, they come up against the...

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

Some interesting results in week 1 of Round 3 and will make for a fascinating afternoon this Saturday. Brighton Union have equipped themselves well to the demands of A grade, Bentleigh Uniting have struggled but are in a strong position this week and Le Page have continued on their merry way...

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

I have no issue with the politics surrounding the mass exodus at Chelsea Heights. For the record, I have greatly admired the way that they have played their cricket and their rise from SECA wilderness to A grade contenders was truly remarkable. However, how a board can reinstate a team that was...

Seca - Sth East Ca 17/18

The series of events that have taken place in the last month have further highlighted this administration's incompetence and failure to its key stakeholders; it's clubs and players. The events at Chelsea Heights is a dire one at that. Players exiting their door at the dawn of a new season is...

9 games in a season? 9? 6 days of cricket after Christmas? The committee should stand down immediately and the transition to CSB should begin from now. Bottom line is this. The competition should always be about its players. It is there to support young men develop their cricketing skills...

    Test XI Selection Thread

I absolutely agree that he's worth a try but he does need to have a good Shield season to warrant selection in my opinion. I'm not so sure though that we should be going for all out youth at this stage. I would be balancing the team with some senior players (some might be a little unpopular!)...

Agree there with you Super. Absolutley it worked well. Great way to finish the home and away season. Been pretty quiet on here the last few days boys. Are you Aussies still getting over Trent Bridge? ;)

Mackie won't (too many Bentligh teams). Omega might (although it would be to Brighton Union). Kingston Heath might do but probably won't. Cluden should do but they don't have the mental capacity required to come up an idea like and the WashUps might actually be the ones. Interesting times.

Yeah happy with the name UM. Would have preferred the CMCA but what can you do? UM, if Hampton United drop down, would it be realistic to suggest that they would lose their best player to a rival club?
