2010 / 11 general chat.

Word has it that Hoppers are so confident they will be in senior division next season already splashing the cash out
Maybe they should remember there finals record before worrying about anything else

Memo to No Truth At All, gee got that one really wrong champ, played and won the GF, how'd your mob go buddy?

As far as splashing the cash, not neccesary mate, players are lining up to head to Hogans Road. Especially from your club, Wonder why?

On a different note, who will get demoted from Senior Division to accommodate Hoppers Crossing and Beaumaris. Clearly Keilor will be demoted, but will the bottom-placed south side (McKinnon) also be demoted.

Or will only the premier from North A1 come up to North Division, meaning Tullamarine have another year in North A1 (and also implying Kelior and Old Essendon Grammarians are both demoted to Nth Division)

Premiers from south and north division replace the two bottom sides in senior division regardless of what division they go back too. So yes keilor and old essendon both go down but as for who goes up/down from north A1 anf north division im not sure..

There's also the potential swallowing of the MMVCA to consider, as mentioned on page 2 of the latest Leading Edge. What division are those clubs going to play in? Beaumaris heading up to Senior Divison and no one coming down to South Division for the second year in a row is great for the competition but creates a shortage of teams in the South divisions. Is it possible that a couple of South B teams could be playing elsewhere next season too? Swallowing the ECA or MCA would make more sense. Could be some big divisional and structural changes brewing, what will the VTCA look like in 11/12?

can anyone from altona nth are on the move as the western jets have control of crofts reserve all year round?????
Hobsons Bay Council will be giving the Western Jets twelve month control of Crofts Reserve in the future. Altona North are to be relocated to a new ground the council will be developing in Altona Meadows. The money that even a under 18 team like the Western Jets can spend on ground improvement & infastructure has swayed the council's thinking on who uses Crofts Reserve. Unfortunately a suburban cricket club can't compete with the finances that the Jets can generate via the AFL. So after playing there since Crofts Reserve was opened in 1977, they are to be moved to a new ground six kilometres away, right alongside an established club in Laverton.

Also the AFL grand final is in october this year so does that mean a 19 week season or does the finals get pushed deeper into march like premier cricket? (or dare i say sunday cricket)

I've heard these rumours before in the past. I ask the question. Is it really necessary? Can't they just have a joint partnership as they've had for the past couple seasons? Some people at the club would be very angry if this happened.

Fair go r u suggesting that Altona North will be playing at the current turf wicket in Victoria st Altona Green which has 1 turf wicket and 1 hard wicket which the Altona Roosters currently play out off?
If this is correct when are we expecting this move to take place?
Is this FACT or part fact part fiction?

BigCoq,
Im wondering if the other place Altona Nth could end up is at Bruce Comben Reserve, since there has been signs in place around the carparks of the grounds there for a total redevelopment, including the clubrooms with 4 changerooms and changerooms for umpires, to accomodate the cricket, touch footy (own ground to be made behind the clubrooms and main car park), (tennis/netball?) as well as asphalting the car parks etc etc.
The only problem is Seabrook actually paid to have the clubrooms extended where the bar and social room is way back when Wyndham City Council had control of the area. So if Hobsons Bay plan on relocating Altona Nth there, then where are they going to expect Seabrook to be based?

Why can't Altona Nth stay where they are or DO Western Jets require BOTH ovals?
Why relocate a club into an area where there is already 3 other clubs established that are all in the VTCA?
Shall be interesting to find out what the Hell is going to happen.

It's the reserve behind the basketball stadium.
Neither of those grounds. Three grounds are to be developed behind Laverton's ground, between Laverton Creek & the railway line, two ovals for cricket/football & the other for athletics. Work is to start shortly.
The Western Jets need both ovals for training of their various squads all year round & obviously cricket pitches, cricketers get in the way of that. They will also to be able to play practice & home matches there without worrying about it still being cricket season.

Pretty much in the middle of no where! Also as you said it's right next to laverton's ground. Surely there are better alternatives. Better yet It makes no sense why Altona have to be relocated since they've been there a lot longer than the jets have and also were the ones that agreed to letting the jets share the ground. Now they want it for themselves! How bout they just go to laverton themselves and build a ground for footy only. Wouldn't that be a better option for both parties?

Nothing has been decided as yet and i would think ANCC would not be moving next season
