2012/13 Barclay Shield

what do we reckon about barclay shield this year?
he will win it? struggle? be in the mix?
ladder positions?
send through how you reckon you or other team will go!

L.E.C.C back to back. Lock it in now!
From all reports, they have lost a lot of players, and haven't picked up much. Big call.

But I will admit, they don't have too many superstars (Bar Whitch, who is no where near at his peak, but still a gun) they generally get the best out of every player, no matter their ability. So you can never discount them. But a lock? NO!

Would love some actual cricket related posts to read instead of the dribble coming out of the Rumours thread...

Has anyone heard anything regarding recruits to BS clubs? Any inter-club movements?

Hearing a lot about Money Shield recruiting, movements, etc - Surely there have been at least a couple of Barclay Shield clubs making a few moves?

Creek have got 3 of their former juniors back from Northcote and Fitz/Donc so that should give them some depth. Have they recruited any one else. It will be interesting to see how these players perform.( Premier 2s and 3s into Barclay)

I reckon Creek will be a force for the next 5 or 6 years, only gonna get stronger, unfortunately.

Who has recruited the best over the winter??
With clubs into pre season, which sides do you think will move up the ladder or slide the other way??

I think it will be a closely contested season again with no stand out side..

Ladder..2012/13

Creek- strong bunch of young blokes, only improving.
Bundoora- Soild older blokes with experience + imports= up there
Plenty- always there and there abouts
Lower Eltham- Confidence would be up. Can play if they keep there shirts on long enough.
Mernda- some new blokes in the mix according to rumours, unknown quantity
Research- Can do anything on there day, lost some experience in Dale.
Riverside- Never really a threat. Close but no cigar every year.
Macleod- If they get a new wicket at Macloed could struggle.
Epping- Too much left to too few. Lever will carry them.
NEW- Good young bunch coming through.. Not this season
Franks- They finally did it. Be careful what you wish for boys
Camrea- Turned it up in the latter part of the year. Will carry that forward i reckon.

if you have a different opinion feel free to put your ladder up.

I was hoping some members could post a bit about their clubs preseason schedules. I had a look at Riversides website and they are basically training Tuesday and Thursday nights and Sunday mornings from now on. Thats pretty full on. What are other clubs doing?

Just an update on Adam Dale. Pres spoke to him on Friday and Adam stated that he has a role at Northcote which will take up Tuesdays and a role at Doncaster East as a coaching director which is non playing. Hopes to be able manage some games still at Research closer to and beyond Christmas.

Connected to 3 clubs in one season? That's going to be a bit tough for him isn't it? Thats great for the Search if they are able to get Dale play a few games, no doubt he wil probably win you a few games off his own bat. But can't help but feel for the poor kid that trains all pre season and year, plays the first 5-7 games before Christmas, only to be dropped when a player who hasn't trained or played comes back.....

If I was on the committee at Doncaster East, i would be extremely pissed off if the coaching director went and played for another club . Surely he knows that he will attract negative responses from within the club.
Is he taking the piss or what ?

Surely a coaching director would be expected to view the people he is coaching on a Saturday to see how they are developing.

Well he is apparently only going to be playing at the Search after Christmas..... Maybe he is thinking that Doncaster will be out of finals contention by then :D

But i agree, it sounds like a very strange situation for all three clubs. Tuesday: Northcote. Thursday: Doncaster, and Saturday: Research?

Plenty of blokes do specialist coaching at more than one football club, even at AFL level; and Anthony Rocca is not the only one who coaches in one league and plays in another.

My mistake, I thought I was posting on the DVCA board, not the NFL board.

AFL level is a completely different story. I have no issues with him coaching at Northcote and Doncaster, but we are talking about him doing that, and playing at a 3rd club, basically when he feels like it...

Might give him a call to see if he can squeeze us in for Friday nights ...

Correct, this is the DVCA board, not sure why you thought it was the NFL board, but no doubt you have your reasons. As, no doubt again, you do for your completely unsupported and obviously illogical proposition that AFL is a completely different story.
Anyway, it seems that the 3 clubs directly concerned must be happy enough with the arrangement.
So it seems that all they are waiting for is you to sign off the deal and say it's OK with Eltham.
