AFL Round 21

Last night the West Coast Eagles 16.10.106 defeated St.Kilda 14.14.98. This means that the Eagles are almost certainties to finish top 4. On the other hand St. Kilda's loss really opens the battle for the last couple of spots in the 8 right open. Mathematically only Richmond, Carlton and Melbourne can't make the 8 now.

The games for the rest of the round are:

Saturday
Carlton v Kangaroos at Telstra Dome
Fremantle v Melbourne at Subiaco
Adelaide v Brisbane at AAMI Stadium (Night)
Collingwood v Sydney at the MCG (Night)
Sunday
Western Bulldogs v Hawthorn at Telstra Dome
Geelong v Port Adelaide at Skilled Stadium
Essendon v Richmond at the MCG (Twilight)

Carlton 11.13.79 were smashed by the Kangaroos 24.17.161. This game strenghtened the Kangaroos top 4 aspirations.

Fremantle 22.12.144 kept their slim finals chances alive defeating an injury depleated Melbourne 12.13.85.

Adelaide 12.14.86 defeated Brisbane 8.12.60. This games means that Adelaide are in the 8 for this round at least. Also Brisbane's finals chances are not very good now.

Colligwood 15.11.101 def Sydney 11.10.76. Collingwood are only percentage outside the top 4 now and next week they play a crucial game against Sydney. On the other hand Sydney are just hanging on in the 8 but still should make it.

Hawthorn thrashed the Bulldogs 22.19.151 to 10.7.67. With the scores being round about even in the first half the Hawks smashed the Dogs in the second. Buddy Franklin of Hawthorn kicked an amazing 2 goals 12 points as Hawthorn push for a top four spot. The Bulldog's season now is over with no chance of making the eight.

Geelong played Port Adelaide in what was the game of the season so far. Port won 16.10.106 to 15.11.101. This breaks Geelong's winning streak of 15 games in a row however they have secured top spot. With this win Port Adelaide go one step further in ensuring they make the top 4.

In the last game of the round Sheedy and Hird said goodbye to the MCG and the Bomber's faithful but this event could not spur Essendon onto a win. Richmond won this gam 17.17.119 to 13.14.92 in front of over 88 thousand fans. GO TIGERS, we're still on the bottom but at least we've had 3 wins and a draw now.
