Bowling advice

Hi guys, i bowl right arm pace and have a small problem. When i bowl i feel as if i should be bowling faster than i am now. I am comfortable with my run up and action and follow through, any tips or advice like should i keep working on my follow through more or something like that:confused:

Re: Bowling advice

Mate I think you're best bet is to get yourself a clip of your bowling on youtube, so that the other (Fasts) can have a look at it, they'll tell you where they think you're going wrong.

Re: Bowling advice

Being a medium pace bowler myself, when I am about to start a run up, I have a look-up at the batsman. Then I let myself a bit loose, and just when I am about to jump, I handle the ball much tighter(as if I am in frustration and about to blow the batsman's head off). This is when I am able to generate a bit of pace. :)

Re: Bowling advice

Well...I used to be a swing bowler before. That was the time when had a different grip on the ball. Now I have lost nearly all of my swing. Now in a way, for movement of the pitch, I rely on the seam.

Re: Bowling advice

well i still swing the ball, so i need to hold the ball quite loosly, but when im not looking to swing the ball ill give it a try:).

Re: Bowling advice

well sort of, im more of an economical bowler but i still pick up wickets consistently i think i average 2 wickets a game, but i feel that i can bowl a bit faster, just need tips if anyone knows any secrets or remedies.

Re: Bowling advice

Patience my friend is a virtue. When I was a swing bowler, even my pace used to be quite slow.

Just in case you feel a bit loose on the field, have an energy drink before bowling.

G’day fellas, cricket season is starting over here in Australia. This year for my club we’ve got some exciting talent and experience coming over to play for us. Since his gig with the Queensland Bulls, Stuart Law has been signed to play a few games in 2nd grade this year. Sam Northeast or Fabian Cowdrey from Kent are set to come over and play for us, with Ivan Thomas who played against Australia in a tour game is also signed to play for us this year. Former New Zealand opening batter Peter Fulton and spin bowling all-rounder Alecz Day who played for Wellington is already over here for the first few rounds and current Queensland Bulls player James Bazley will vice-captain the 1st grade team. We have a few other international players coming over and some really good young talent from here already in the set up.

So we have a lot of experienced players set to play this season and it will be a great opportunity to play with and hopefully gain a lot knowledge from the experience of these players.

I’m also very interested to hear if you guys have any questions that I can ask these guys and hopefully get some really good answers for you. We've got some really good fast bowlers particularly in Baze and Ivan so hopefully I can get some answers from them for you guys.

Thanks guys and hopefully we can get lots of questions and good answers.

Here's a 20-minute bowling analysis of Tim. If you would like a video analysis of your bowling, just send me some footage and I'll upload it for you.

How force vector affects ball flight

Leg spin bowling video analysis. Learn how the force vector of a bowler affects the flight angle of the ball. In this course Tim is paired up with Adam Zampa, we look at how to get a linear force vector and how this increases back leg drive and ground reaction forces. You will learn how better extension in the back leg enhances hip to shoulder separation, which is complemented by a braced front leg, resulting in more forward trunk tilt. All in all improving the mechanics of a leg spinner.
