DOS games & Vista

Is there any way by which we can run old classic DOS games in Windows Vista?

When I run it, I see a blank black screen. I have tried compatibility mode also. I really wanted to play old games like Sky, Dave, Mario and many more.

Though I have many new games like undercover and COD but I still can't forget the old classic games. It reminds me the older days when I bought my first computer.

ScummVM is also good. It emulates a lot of classic game engines like Sierra's AGI (Police Quest, Space Quest etc) and the Lucasarts engine (Monkey Island series)

I've used DosBox and its good. Emulators are the only way for Dos applications on Vista. Might solve your C++ problem too.
