Re: DVCA Juniors 09/10

G'day Guys & Gals,
This season BigCricket has decided to offer the DVCA junior sites a chance to become a Top poster.
Those who can tick all the boxes re. constructive feedback / proactive comments/ generating interesting topics, will be awarded the tag of a Top Poster. Similar to this:

cold case
Top Poster

I will even let you guys pick what you want it to say. So, if we can all scratch our heads and come up with our best slogan, BigCricket will then select the winner. The winner will become our first Top Poster or whatever the winner chooses it to say.
* 1 selection per post please.
* You may have up to 5 selections
* You must make your selection in your specific age group only.
* Your selection cannot be in consecutive posts. You must wait for another selection.

Good Luck CC.

Plenty will be in a different league to Lower and Diamo.
I think the contenders in the Blue league will be Bundoora, Macleod, Greensborough and Plenty and as for the Teal league will be Mill Park, Diamo, Research,St.Francis and Lower Plenty.
Riverside to be an up and coming side in the Blue league and to just miss out on the 4.

I got all the information on the leagues on the DVCA site.

Are Diamo and Macleod splitting into different divisions this year?

Where abouts on the DVCA site is where teams are in what division?

and also, Nathan Hrovat is back in the DVCA, any thoughts as to if he will be better than he was?

Re: DVCA Juniors 09/10

G'day boys and Girls,
I will use this thread to pass on what information I can. The Junior executive are having a terrible time trying to restructure things since the inclusion of 2 new clubs. It looks as though too many teams have been nominated in the bottom divisions. Have a squiz:

Subject: [DVCA&AllClubs] JEC: Junior gradings and fixturing [your urgent attention is required]

TO ALL CLUBS (Juniors)
The Junior Executive (JEC) met last night to try and provide its final advice on gradings and fixturing to Neal Bowden (who will now proceed to create the junior fixtures).

Of grave concern to the JEC is the decreasing number of clubs willing to place a team into level 1 of an age group.
Twelve of 26 clubs have lodged nearly 20 grading appeals of some sort. The JEC resolved it could not possibly work through all those appeals nor should such effort be warranted nor will appeals be automatically granted.

It is almost beyond the understanding of the JEC as to why only 14 clubs of 26 want to lodge a side at level 1 in Under 12s (the 12 other clubs have requested to play at level 2). Further to this, but perhaps for reasons more understandable such as 'form on the board' only 18 clubs of 22 offering an U16 side want to play at level 1 and 17 clubs of 25 offering an U14 side want to play level 1. This has led to some unfortunate conjecturing as to the motives behind such moves in clubs and suggestions that perhaps flags and shields should be removed from level 2 divisions and the side that finishes on top of the ladder just be deemed 'winners' but receive no other recognition.

Before Neal Bowden uses up too much of his valuable time the JEC wishes clubs to confirm the number and configuration of their teams. It will advise clubs shortly after that.

Action required immediately:
- Clubs can either refer to the attachment or gain the information from the item "DVCA Junior cricket program" on the DVCA website.
- the JEC wants immediate confirmation or otherwise that the status of teams provided is an accurate reflection of the state of play in your club
- for the purposes of this exercise an email will suffice (however any request for further change will not be official unless submitted on a team/ground nomination sheet updated to the latest club version).

** Clubs have until 5pm Wednesday to respond to me **

Further notes:
- Under 16(1), U14(1) are to start on Saturday 3 October
- Under 12(1) starts on Sunday 4 October
- U16(2), U14(2) are to start on Saturday 10 October
- U12(2), U12 Dev and U12 Mod are to start on Sunday 11 October.

Subject: [DVCA&AllClubs] JEC: Junior gradings and fixturing [important update]

TO ALL CLUBS (Juniors)
Clubs are assured that the Junior Executive (JEC) fully realises that the season is fast approaching but need to understand the importance of providing correct and final advice on gradings and fixturing to Neal Bowden (who has commenced creating the junior fixtures under what is now a very tight timeline) is paramount. There is a great deal of flux and anxiety within the ranks of DVCA junior cricket and while we note the agitation of parents and officials, the JEC can only take decisions based on what they authoritatively know.

Thank you to those clubs who when asked at short notice were able to provide temporary advice on the status of their teams . Attached for your information is the version of gradings decided by the JEC on Monday night prior to any further advice by clubs. While most clubs have been fantastic in keeping the JEC informed about their status, unfortunately the situation remains largely unclear as to the best way forward to structuring the competition given such uncertainty in clubs.

Nonetheless, the JEC has had to resolve to make the following decisions and clubs are advised to note the consequences:
Under 12:
- with only 14 clubs wishing to play at level 1 (12-1) the JEC is still discussing whether it may make 2 divisions x 7 sides and play cross over games caused by the bye and finally cross-over finals as there will be spare weeks after everyone has played each other (clubs are advised that this option clearly remains a possibility)
- the fourteen (14) clubs wanting to play at level 1 will be if required divided into two divisions (6/8; 12-1 Blue and 12-1 Teal) and if no further clubs advise of a change then only players from the 12-1 Blue and Teal clubs will be given priority access to representative cricket trials and to player development workshops (the JEC considers that 6/8 is not a desirable framework and would prefer 8/8 or 8/10 or 10/10)
- the twelve (12) clubs wishing to have at least one U12 side but not participate at level 1 will be placed into their own division called 12-1 White and will be given very restricted access to representative cricket trials and to player development workshops (they will not be allowed to commence the season in 12-2)
- any clubs who raised an appeal about being auto-graded into 12-1 are invited to immediately reconsider their position and accept placement into the 12-1 Blue or Teal divisions
- any changes in Dev or Mod grades do not affect any fixturing at this time.
Under 14:
- the 14-1 divisions as given have been approved by the JEC and aligned as far as possible with U16 for fixturing purposes (only players at level 14-1 will be considered for rep cricket trials although the JEC may invite players at 14-2 if they so wish but any club nominations from 14-2 level will not be considered)
- clubs should note that there is potential for tremendous change and movement within the 14-2 ranks (these divisions are very fluid).
Under 16:
- the 16-1 divisions as given have been approved by the JEC (only players at level 1 will be considered for rep cricket trials although the JEC may invite players at 16-2 if they so wish but any club nominations from 16-2 level will not be considered)
- the 16-2 divisions as given have been approved by the JEC recognising that clubs are struggling to find sufficient numbers to field teams at this level (clubs short on numbers should consider making a merged side).

Action required immediately:
- please check gradings and advise me of any major discrepancy.
Reminder:
Juniors Pre-season meeting to be held at Yarrambat on Wednesday 30 September from 7.30pm (compulsory meeting - collect last minute advice and rule books)
Thanks,
MARLWOOD RYDER
DVCA JEC Secretary

Re: DVCA Juniors 09/10

Greensy would have had an U161 but the backward thinking clubs in the DVCA voted not to change age groups or playing days. The top 6 players who also played 3rds and 4ths last year will be playing U17s in the HDCA on FRIDAY NIGHTS and DVCA seniors on Saturdays.

Why should they change the rules for 1 club???

Most clubs would know the agenda but not much happening at the moment. It will all work out hopefully.
