DVCA Off-Season 202021

What are some predictions for the off season? Who will be the big recruiters? Does anyone have any cash left to splash around I wonder.

That's my thinking.
It is an interesting set up at Epping I guess. At the end of the day though, it was only a one day comp this year. DC, Epping, Heidelberg and Lower all failed to make finals. Possibly just didn’t suit the format. Do they all bounce back?
I think so.

Epping have really good depth as shown in their twos and threes winning the flag wouldn't be the end of the world if they lost a few down there

That they do. They are a strong club no doubt, have just heard murmurings of players being unhappy there.
But they may just be that, murmurs

Agree. Should shut it down. Offers very little
It needs to be better. Social media is one article/subject at a time so need to search to find what you need. Websites still serve a purpose and if a club wanted to attract a player and they went to the website ... they would see a very ordinary offer and puts all clubs in a poor light. Just run it better. After all we have admin people getting paid by the clubs and clubs are not getting what they pay for.

They’ve managed to post all the award winners from the presentation night PowerPoint, but updated nothing else haha

It just goes to show how backward the powers that be are on the DV board. Time to start fresh and get some more relevant, modern and inclusive people in the major roles. The website and unfair fixturing (obviously not this covid season), is just a small slice of the pie in the grand scheme DV issues.

No predominant multicultural teams accepted or a stand alone women’s comp in the DV yet, how can that be in 2021?

Some people in the DV I’ve spoken to, claim it’s due to the dinosaurs in charge not being up with the times. Some even consider it misogynistic and racist that this hasn’t eventuated yet, it’s hard to argue against them TBH.

We need new people who can get the wheels in motion for those 2 glaring holes as that should have already been done by now.

Cancel culture is up and about, so no better time to cancel those that have been sitting on the DV board for far too long.

Womens team I agree, but in saying that DVCA does have a girls comp which is a better pathway to a womens comp once the girls progress through the junior age groups. But given the current success of the Aust Womens Team DVCA need to catch on quicker. Not sure I agree with the multicultural point. Community sport and clubs should be a reflection of the general community and be for all to participate. All DVCA have players from various backgrounds and having those players at any club help break down any barriers that may exist.
But yes the DVCA Executive is an irrelevant group of underperformers that can only organise two things: Grand Final lunch - where they get free drinks and Preso night where they also get free drinks.

You raise great points regarding the women’s league.
However I have to disagree regarding your view on the multiculturalism aspect. I think we possess a fantastic example of diverse inclusion

How would a women’s competition work in DV do you think?
Personally I wouldn’t care if it happened or didn’t happen, but I think it would be great for clubs to possibly connect with their football counterparts and speak to the girls playing football to continue playing cricket there as well.
I imagine ground availability Would be difficult to manage when football pre season time comes around.

Can't U just vote them out?

Of course you're missing the most important point in getting a women's comp up and running; women have to actually want to play cricket. I highly doubt there are enough interested women within the DVCA area to make a stand alone comp viable. Those that are interested are probably already playing in the already established women's league. So you require a large selection of women all interested at the same time in playing to even consider getting things off the ground. That's near impossible with the men let alone the women.

Cameron Clayton the new Lower Eltham Coach, if it's the same bloke that has recently played for Sydenham Hills Cricket club Lower will become his 8th club.
