It may not be the strongest bowling attack we could field, but McKay, McDonald & Holland are all recognised by the national selectors as good enough for consideration. Hastings and Pattinson are supposed to be up to it. I didn't see any of the game, but Ljp raises a good question. Why have McKay & Holland not bowled their full quota, and Hodge allowed to seemingly hand Ronchi & co. 3 overs of free hits?

Tassie are playing good cricket. NSW are a handful at full strength, yet we lost to teams that I wouldn't class as being a shadow of their former selves.

Tassie are crap, they just sneaked over the line against a crap NSW side and they have been crap for years, even at full strength they still lose, they are not a good one day side

As for the 2 teams we lost to, they sit 1st and 3rd on the table, wouldnt be criticising them too much

You really are a stirrer aren't you Eddie, if I were you I'd be keeping quiet after what happened at the MCG earlier this year. Ripped to shreds by a modest Queensland attack, the Shield win surely has a question mark over it considering the flat deck dished out at the junction.

Really? Seemed like a typical Shield final wicket to me and alot more life in it than the last GABBA final

They dont get the points against us and they would probably be 2nd and 3rd, such a difference indeed...

All the same, I'm not comfortable with the state of things when they're dropping games to teams which are clearly inferior. The batsmen are there, and meandering at the moment. The bowlers are the weakness at present, but they've stood up before and there's no reason why they should be performing so ordinarily.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Thread 2009/2010

But we have never gone through a one day season undefeated, the Shield of course, but the side has never really dominated at one day cricket and thats why when it counts they can never get the job done, they will always get to the final but lack something to win it at the end

The bowling is very inexeperienced, Holland has only really just started to be seen as a one day bowler due to Australias lack of spinners more than anything and they dont have the fast and furious strike bowlers of previous seasons with all the pace out injured, it lacks the ability to smash through a team as both openers rely on a bit of movement or variable bounce whilst Hastings is a 3rd bowler

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Thread 2009/2010

But haven't we won a few one-day titles recently?

Agreed, all-up the bowling attack is quite inexperienced. White should use that as an opportunity to get himself back into it.

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Thread 2009/2010

Very disappointing from the Bushrangers 5 for 68 chasing 339. was looking forward to a good run chase.

Now Rogers has copped a fair whack on the forearm..

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Thread 2009/2010

Rogers gone for an unbelievable innings of 140, what a game lol. RR not really an issue now just the 8 wickets down.

Edit - 9 down, some very ordinary running there :D

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Thread 2009/2010

Yeah, I've got no complaints about them having some success. Very concerned for the state of affairs in the Vic camp though. That's 3 one-day losses in succession - all to what I would consider inferior opposition. SA were, and still are, bottom of the table. At home on the MCG, it shouldn't happen.

I want to know why we are playing so poorly. The bowling depth is being exposed as grossly substandard. There are no excuses for the batting. Tonight was disgraceful. That we were in it at 8-down is all credit to Rogers and the tail, and shows what a difference it would make if anyone up the order cared to apply themselves.

Great recovery in the Shield match just completed. It shows our bats can do it when they want to, though it shouldn't be ignored that we were outplayed for 3 of the days.

Good old SA, have the opposition 5/68 chasing 340 and they cant even get 1 bonus point :D

Well it's better than losing to Victoria :D

Yeah nothing is worse than dominating for 3 days and letting the opposition win by 6 wickets with 20 overs to spare :D

Oh wait, there is something worse, playing a team with 10 first choice bowlers out, the opposition fail to make 400 and you still lose by an innings! :D

Re: Ford Ranger Cup Thread 2009/2010

1.We lost because of a sporting declaration. Nobody is going to overtake Victoria at the top of the table and we got our first-innings points, so the outright result doesn't affect us at all.

2.Name all 10 of them
