New Uniforms

Just for a bit of a laugh, what do you think of the new uniforms for this season?

I'm not really that much of a fan of the dark green, it's really only there because the Commonwealth Bank logo is yellow. I hope they fixed up the mismatch of colours between the shirt and shorts, it's very noticeable and looked stupid. You can't see it here, but we'll see.

Personally I also liked the grey skin tight (and slightly controversial because of it) T20 uniform. I think it was good to have that difference between all three forms.

One thing I particularly don't like is the Test uniform. They have now moved to whites instead of creams (or not quite, maybe off-white). I liked the cream, showed that Australia was resisting the notion off commercialism and sticking with tradition. Also there is a yellow stripe on the shirt and the yellow collar. They are called whites or creams for a reason, they don't have those colours. I don't mind having a Vodafone label on one side of the chest and on the sleeve, but definitely not like what is in the Sheffield Shield at the moment with a massive Weetbix across the front. The Test uniform shouldn't have any colours or stripes on it, this is most likely just the start of slowly adding colours to Tests. In ten years time there will probably be stripes and patterns all over the whites.

Uniforms don't really matter as long as they keep playing well, but you do have to keep in with traditional views while creating something that makes it pleasing to the eye.

Re: New Uniforms

still hate the dark green strip

i think the CommBank logo would stand out just as much if the uniform was yellow. just stick a black box behind it

piss this dark green crap off. seriously, it was cool for the first season. we wore yellow for how long? even the aussie A team uniforms back in the day had yellow as the dominant colour. bring back the old T20 uniform - liked it more than the new one. as for the test shirt - i like it. test cricket needs a revamp somehow...why not start with the uniforms?

Spot on Boris, really annoys me. We look like bloody Pakistan.

Also what's with every sportsman getting those incredibly lame 'sleeve' tattoos?

Commonwealth Bank has been very good to cricket, though, so I'm willing to put up with it a bit more. They've put a lot of money into development of the professional sport, along with Milo for the junior development, and they have done a good job. I just wish they could at least just make the fronts and backs of the shirt that green, and leave the sleeves, above the logo and the sides of the shirt yellow, sort of a two-tone styled shirt.

It is handy in one way that the Commonwealth Bank logo is yellow and the VB logo (for away shirts) is green, so there aren't foreign colours on the shirts. Also the uniforms aren't as ad-filled as other countries (take a look at India for example - their shirts are like that back window of a bogan's ute).

Also I found out something I didn't know the other day. Due to their being more right handed batsmen than left handed, sponsors actually pay more for advertising on the left sleeve of the shirt, so it is facing the camera when they are batting. Doesn't affect the Australian team as much, they have about equal right and left and have the same logo on each side anyway, but this is true of the English and Indian shirts.

I will answer with another question: Why was the mullet a popular hairstyle in the 80s? :D

The Commonwealth Bank ones look a lot better with the yellow stripes instead of that incredibly tacky 'gold'.

I honestly don't see why they can't put a green strip across the front of a primarily yellow/gold home strip, and put the Commonwealth bank logo on that strip.
