New Zealand batting

Re: New Zealand batting

Jesus.. Batting has always been their main weakness at Test level. Ross Taylor has a lot of potential if he can work on his defensive side, he has all the shots.

Re: New Zealand batting

You could take it one of two ways:

That NZ batting has been poor and it is rather suprising/a joke that a player that averaged about 15 in his first half of his career has now come and got into the top 10

Or

He is a fantastic player that thorourly deserves all that is coming to him. Has averaged something like 38 in his 2nd half of his career and in world cricket there isn't a batsman that bats at number 8 coming anywhere near what Vettori has done.

Re: New Zealand batting

Whichever way you look at it, New Zealand's batting is still dismal and will be the reason that they won't win a lot of test matches. Teams like Australia bat all the way down the order to no. 9 or even 10 where as once you get NZ 7 down, thats as good as all out.

Jacob Oram is out injured and is a certainty to slot into the middle order giving them another batsman.

I'll give it to you that they maximum bat to 9 with two of the worst 10 and 11 in world cricket, perhaps of all time.

surely chris martin will break danny morrison's record one day :)

He did today. ;)

Morrison has 24 test ducks, Martin's duck today was his 25th, hence overtaking Morrison. Outright 7th now on the all-time ducks list, next "victim" is Curtly Ambrose. Courtney Walsh here we come!! :D

Re: New Zealand batting

Didn't duckman Morrison once bat for a whole day to save a Test?

The Kiwis need to unearth another Martin crowe, actually even a player half as good as him would be handy.

Edit - He added 14 in a 106 run partnership to save a match, wasn't a whole day though.

To be fair thats not right. Their lower order is better than their top.

None down is 5 down is more realistic.
